Motorcyclist arrested during the Burton Parade
Motorcyclist arrested during the Burton Parade
In case you missed it in the DR forum...
So yesterday, Burton had it's annual Memorial Day parade. And a new part of the parade was the inclusion of the "Bike Blessing" and riders. I went, and there were some DSR and other local peeps. I rode the Fddy. Mostly because I know what a PITA riding in a parade is. It's hot, it's slow, you push more than you ride because you're overheating, etc. But I also rode the Fiddy because Fiddies were allowed to stunt in the parade. Big Bikes were not.
Anyway, the rules for big bikes were simple. NO JACKASSERY of any sort. No burnouts, no wheelies, stoppies, etc. And right away, before we even left the church parking lot, I had a guy pegged as "most likely to crash during this event". He was the only one revving at other bikers in the parking lot. And he was all decked out trying to look like a Ruff Ryder. You know, the half helmet, skull faced do rag over his face, even though it was 85 degrees and we weren't moving, vest with fake Ruff Ryder "R" on the back, etc
With bikes 30 feet ahead of him, he accelerated up to probably 30mph, then slid to a stop, almost hitting them. Again, confirming my suspicion that he would crash. Then he did a burnout right at the start of the actual parade, with Fiddies right behind him, spitting rocks and rubber on the Fiddy riders, with little kids less than 5 feet on either side... and well, I'll let the news story tell the rest...

BURTON - A Flint motorcyclist picked the wrong time and the wrong place to show off Monday.
Burton police said the Flint man, 19, was part of a Burton church motorcycle group participating in the city's Memorial Day parade when he decided to do some "doughnuts" and "burnouts" - making his tire smoke - with his motorcycle about 2:30 p.m.
The man lost control of his bike and dropped the machine just three feet from the crowd at S. Center and Bristol roads, said Lt. Thomas Hudson said. Three Burton officers witnessed the incident, he said.
The police arrested the man for reckless driving and discovered that the motorcycle had been reported stolen in Burton last July, Hudson said.
The driver was jailed overnight, Hudson said.
