Question Does anyone have a Post Hole Digger??

By any chance does someone have a gas powered post hole digger that will work this time of year??? I need about an 8 inch diameter hole dug....

Or know where I can get one...

Home depot rents them, but they dont rent out or carry the ice blades for frozen ground...

My god damned mailbox took one too many blastings from the snowplows and fell over once the snow bank melted today....

Re: Does anyone have a Post Hole Digger??

Lol. Chocha you dont need an ice blade. Just rent a regular post hole digger from Home Depot. The snow acts as an insulator. With the weather we have had the ground should only be frozen for about 8" down. A regular post hole digger can cut roots so frozen ground is not a problem. I just put up a privacy fence a month ago in this weather and had no problem. You are just looking for excuses not to do it aren't ya.

Thanks, but there is an part right on the site in FAQs that says this....

"A road commission snow plow knocked down my mailbox….

The road right-of-way property which is owned by the Road Commission serves several purposes. One is to accommodate the utilities, another is for your mailbox. You should obtain permission from the Road Commission to situate your mailbox in the right of way. Another reason is to create a type of “buffer zone” between your property and the road. Because we use heavy equipment in the maintenance of our roads, and especially when the road and right of way area is covered with snow, it is difficult to see the mailboxes. Many times, it is the pushed snow that will knock down a mailbox rather than the snowplow actually hitting the mailbox. In cases such as this, the Road Commission does not replace or repair the mailboxes . There are state laws in place that provide governmental immunity for Road Commissions for incidents such as this while maintaining our roads."
