I wanted a .40 for the extra 2 rounds. Actually the .40 has more felt recoil than the .45. My boy in college had the .45 USP compact and I have shot both side by side. The .40 has a nastier recoil. Both shoot sweet, but all H&K's do. 9mm's are for girls.

p.s. why would you need a threaded barrel? Seems like it would just catch on the holster.

Cool thing about the sig .40 is that with a simple barrel & magazine change you can go from a .357 to a 9mm to a .40. My boy with the .45 H&K had the 9mm. Nice gun, very concealable. With my H&K I need to keep my belt super tight to keep my pants from falling down because of the weight/size.

I don't know much about S&W's other than the classic .22 cal 6 shooter I have. I know they have pertty good quality. You might want to look into Springfield arms' new (as of last year) automatics. They seemed to be pretty decent quality for the price. Plus they came with a back up magazine.

I plan on getting it just to get it before they change the restrictions and make em hard to get.. But this will be more for recreational target BS and of course poping a cap in someone should they decide to break in my house.... Its only a start.. I plan on getting more.. My .270 rifle is bit bulky for home protection...
