Computer...help?

Some of you may not know me (or may not remember me, I was at the New Years Eve party, but you know how that goes), but I'm Niner's sister. I'm having some computer problems and he told me to post up, since there are computer geniuses in the crowd. So here goes...

I have an Emachine T2542 (I know it's a piece of s***, but I'm poor), it's about a year old. I previously had an HP 5100 printer, that I have uninstalled and deleted, to the best of my knowledge. I got a HP PSC 2355 printer/scanner/copier for Christmas and I'm having a bia of a time installing it. I keep getting this "fatal message" that says error #1935 has occurred with the MSI documentviewer and gives this string of nonsense "303994BA-6487-47AE-AFID-7AF6088EEBDB.HRESULT:-2147024894" I went online to the HP site to fix it. They told me to alter permissions in the registry. However, when I got there, permissions was not under "Hewlitt Packard" like they said it would be. Then, I downloaded a patch that was supposed to solve the "Fatal error message on installation" problem. No go. Then they said it might be Microsoft's problem. I simply can't believe they would make a product that doesn't work with XP. Who is this Microsoft again? Nah, we don't need to be compatible with them. But I went to MS anyway and they described what seemed to be my problem, and then told me that the solution was out of the scope of the page I was viewing. Thanks...bastards! So right now, I've spent a grand total of six hours trying to get this POS connected (every time I try to install it, it takes about a half an hour...of course this message doesn't come up at the beginning of installation...no. That would be too easy), and I'm ready to throw it against the wall!!!

Can anyone out there help, or point me in a direction where I can get help?

Slothy, you are my hero!!! I'm not even sure what I did exactly, but it worked! It might not be for a while, but when I see you I definitely owe you a beer (or two or three!!) I'll make sure Niner points you out the next time we're at the same event!

New York Psi (as in the Greek letter representing psychology-I'm a psychologist) "ko" to complete the nickname. Sorry, not psycho or sick. Not that we don't all have a little crazy in us!
