My 636 had fuel pump issues, took a lot of testing and riding to get it all figured out. Jordo can attest to that. Relays usually work, or dont work. But there are several things that can cause a fuse to pop.
Does your fuel system have proper pressure? Rails are clean, pump is clean?

im pretty sure it was the relay, when i turned it on it kept trying to prime over and over... i grabbed the relay and moved it and it primed and started right up, ran for like 5 seconds then died... it did that twice before it went back to just trying to prime over and over..

Yeah that relay might be making a half *** connection. ****, it took me forever to get mine figured out. But i did learn how to clean the pump, and it beats buying a new one! Those pumps are sold as a unit, the internal parts aren't replacable, so if you do take it apart just becareful not to break or misplace something.
I almost forgot, the pump is a highpitch whine, the throttle bodies do a test which is a low tone. You can actually see the buterfly valves open/close. But what I'm getting at is there are two different sounds/operations the bike makes when you turn it on.

sounds like you have a bad ground or power to your computer. if you turn the key on it should prime the pump for about 2-5 seconds. if it continues to try and prime the pump you are most likley gaining and loosing power signal to the computer....

I have another pump you can use to test it with. I have all sorts of parts, I think I'm going to drop my motor tomorrow and take the frame to the welder this week. I have a show in 2 weeks so it has to be back in by then.

I found an extra fuel pump for that bike in my garage today. Since Jordo never told me HE had an extra I had to get another one myself.. thanks Jordo. Because of you I dont stunt anymore. lol!! j/k

today had to be the worst day ive had in a long time
forgot my wallet at the house, so i had $5 to last me all day, oh did i mention i bought a monster before i realized i didnt have my wallet?? down to $2
ran over my impact drill with a scissor lift.... theres $120
kept hurtin myself and droppin tools
almost got pulled over at lunch, thank god he went for the guy in front of me... my license is now suspended...
right at the end of the day i realized my brand new $60 staple gun is missing

scoots right its probably a wire pinched and shorted out to the frame...
get out the old ohm meter and check all the wires til you find the short
