Ok.. I gave in.
Ok.. I gave in.
Ok. After looking around and being brow beaten by Jake, Dan and other American workers I decided to give another American company a try.
I pretty much paid cash for this truck so I hope I spent it wisely. I looked at the new Sierra/Silverado and still didn't like it compared to the Dodge, Ford etc. Step in the right direction by GM but still seems blah..
When I get back this week dealer is putting in bed liner, new tires (wanted the white letter tires) and remote start.
Quieter inside then GM and Dodge, rode better then Dodge about same as GM. 5.4L Triton

Bye bye to my G6 was a good car.. just missed having a Truck.

Re: Ok.. I gave in.
Looks good, Now that you got your wife a truck go buy a new Chevy pickup for yourself.
Plus Ford trucks are good quality. Glad you didn't get a Dodge, their quality is poor, although they look pretty good.

Don't get me wrong, I also hate a lot more things, but that's all I felt like typing because I hate making a list of all the things I hate.

I only hate India and China and the whole Middle East and Taiwan and the products they make and the services they offer. I think Japan is cool and the people are all right. I don't like their trade practices, but since they are one of our few military allies in that part of the world it kind of balances it out for me. I would always only buy a chevy truck though. If I was going to buy a small car for gas mileage it would probably be Jap though, cause the Aveo sucks and the Cobalt just looks like a replacement for the Cavalier, which I also thought sucked.

Why don't you ride down with Anne and I? And yes, I know that your bike is "uncomfortable on long rides" so I offer you to ride mine and have Anne hug you for a day. I'll ride yours to show you it can be done.

And JAKE, Japan is not a military alias...........they have like 5 guns, 1 paddle boat and lot of pillows. They just like us to protect them when they are trouble, while not letting us import rice because it will take jobs away from their rice farmers............hmmmmm, sounds like a plan, maybe we should try it on them. They do make good cars and realy beat us bad in the 80's when we were building crap. If it wasn't for Japan we would still be making crap today I believe, that's the one benefit from global competition for sure.
And you forgot to add Korea on your list, since 1% of a Hyundai and Kias are made here. At least the Japanese company's are building some plants here, even if the real reason is to avoid car importing tariffs.
Dammit Jake, you got me started again. Anyhow nice truck Tony.:YEAH
Re: Ok.. I gave in.
nice truck Tony, and uh- It doesnt take much to get you started Dan. I chit canned some steve & berry jeans (made by Al Quida) and replaced them w/ Faded Glory that were assembled in Mexico with 100% american components, so thats a gold star for me!
Re: Ok.. I gave in.
Chevy Silerado...............Motortrend Truck of Year (cough, cough). Especially impressive since the interior is about all the motortrend folks look at. Fords are nice though, it would be my second pick.

WTF am I thinking. I hate Korea too! Can't believe I forgot that.
Yeah, but your missing the big picture Dan. What do you think the Japanese hot chick soldiers do with all those pillows???? That's what I'm talkin about.

In Washington, it's called "interoperability" and it's a top military priority. With its own forces engaged in Iraq and elsewhere, the United States needs to strengthen its alliances and draw on its friends for whatever support it can get. And since the end of World War II, Japan has been Washington's best friend in Asia.
But the idea of a beefed-up Japanese military doesn't resonate well through the region.
As the two-week refueling exercise was being carried out late last month, relations between Japan and neighboring China were plunging to their lowest point in years, largely over Japanese wartime aggression that left millions of Chinese dead, and over Tokyo's bid for a permanent seat on the U.N. Security Council.
There is no consensus in Japan, either.
Negotiations on a broad reworking of the military alliance with Washington are reportedly bogging down because the government is divided over just how far Japan should follow Washington's call.
The bigger question is whether Japan should even be a military power.
The U.S.-led occupation forces disbanded Japan's military after World War II and helped write a constitution that barred Japan from using "the threat or use of force as a means of settling international disputes."
Washington soon realized it needed to build an ally to counter communism in Asia, and Japan passed a law in 1954 that paved the way for establishing its Self-Defense Forces. Though the decision was denounced by many who saw it as unconstitutional, the government argued that the military force is legal because is a strictly defense-oriented.
That argument is becoming hard to sustain.
Japan has more than 240,000 active-duty troops and an annual defense budget bigger than Britain's. Its air force has more than 160 F-15s and its spy satellites keep watch on North Korea.
Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, who advocates a constitutional change to free up the military, has pushed the envelope even further, sending hundreds of soldiers to southern Iraq for humanitarian activities and more to Southeast Asia to provide tsunami relief.
"Japan is America's only reliable partner in Asia, and Washington wants Japan to make a big contribution in its efforts in the region," said Takehiko Yamamoto, professor of international relations at Tokyo's Waseda University.
Yamamoto said Tokyo, for its part, wants to bolster its troops largely because of the perceived threat from China and regional wild card North Korea, which is developing nuclear weapons and has missiles that can deliver them to Japan.

Look, I don't want to argue with ya bro, but China is my enemy, and Japan is China's enemy, so the enemy of my enemy is my friend. BUT I do agree that Japan needs to play fair in the auto sector and that they are not, so that's why I would never buy a truck from them.
On a better note, we'll be in Flint this weekend so let's go riding on Friday? The girls can hang out and pillowfight in underware or something.
Re: Ok.. I gave in.
My favorite internet picture of all time. I just hope that one day some friends and I can be at a spot where we can put up a sign like that and have a few beers while watching peoples reactions.
