Well, time again for some "preaching"
Well, time again for some "preaching"
Okay, just rode with some guys yesterday and one bit it and ended braking his hand and a vertabre. See Scott go down a few weeks before and Matt a few days before that. Rick, who we ride with recked about three weeks back and we all probably seen the news of the guy who ended flying into a tree and dying not far back. A guy at Arby's last Friday was sporting some rash from flipping his bike and another guy I know from the Buell forum out of brighton totaled his bike.
I guess what I'm getting at is, be freaking careful. My advice for what its worth.
EQUIPMENT
-Good LEATHER gloves, not dirt bike gloves which will just melt nylon into your skin
-Some sort of riding boot so your footpeg don't stick thru you ankle if you bike goes down
-Duh, a good jacket and helmet that both fit tight
-There are about 5 or so companys that make jeans with Kevlar in them, if you seen Scott's *** that he was proudly showing last week you would definitely know why these jeans would help.
-safety check at least your chain, tires and wheels before you ride.
You can probably get all of the above for under 500 picking a less expensive brand such as Joe Rocket or Icon, which is a hell of a lot better than nothing. Wear your ****, even if it's hot or your just running to the store for a few minute ride.

Re: Well, time again for some "preaching"
I will be in the market for some type of riding pants soon. i am not going to preach but sitting only on your left cheek everyday sucks
Also its a real problem even wearing pants, so riding pants and the other gear is a great idea

Re: Well, time again for some "preaching"
I'm waiting on my license to come back from the state right now, then I can start practicing. That'll help the survivability rate for the friday night rides.
Now I just gotta buy the $500-$600 worth of EMS gear. Donations anyone?

Buy some leather pants if you are going to spend the money. Don't waste your $ on the kevlar jeans.

The gloves were from draggin jeans. they said they can be used an liner or on their own for light duty use. Shredding at 2 MPH isn't my idea of protection.
