You can do IV's as a basic? I thought only paramedics could give IV's?

Re: Fawking SWEEET!!
In CO, EMT-Bs can do IVs. It requires an 70 hr class and as many ER clinicals it takes you to get 50 patient sticks. I had to take two clinicals but I got 92 sticks in those two days. The worst ones were the 92 yr old lady and the 3 yr old boy

Michigan's got some funky EMS laws. First Responder's and EMT-B's are the same thing. EMT-I/Specialist don't do much more, they just get a bigger headache. And Paramedic does ALL the cool stuff.
And legal DNR's don't mean squat in michigan anymore. A close relative can overturn it on the spot if they want, no court order required.
Re: Fawking SWEEET!!
Man DNR's are holy document around here, a photocopy doesnt even count. The original or we're workin. EMT-I really died off around here only like one place really even offers the cert. EMT-B's have a pretty damn big scope of practice around here and now CO has EMT-P/CC (critical care paramedic) who are almost nurse level in the street

There is an 18 month program I'm looking into, about 556 classroom hours and 350 clinical hours, but it's a 3 hour comute.
