Re: Just another GM failure!!
Go buy one tony.. I almost got one, but for the price I just went for the vette... I would get one for a daily driver though... I am still thinking about picking up a used GTO or a used CTS...

Actually it is done because of some new SIR federal standards that isn't worth investing into that platform for the US. That car has been a pain frmo the beginning in a federal standards/testing stand point. Wasn't built with being turned into a US car in mind that is for sure. Damn Holdens but the V8 class they race in Aussie is bad ***...

Re: Just another GM failure!!
Car was actually bad *** as far as engine and handling. Some didn't like the Euro look. Problem was the price. You could buy a Ford Mustang for a lot less and anyone who didn't know cars didn't know the GTO could smoke the Mustang so most just went for the cheaper of the two. For a little more you could get a plain Corvette. There was also a Gas Guzzler tax put on it of over $1000, which also obviously hurt the price. I wanted one bad, 400 HP whopped some assss but I couldn't handlle thinking of what gas would cost to keep it running.

Actually it's $31,000 and that's before rebates or discounts. If anyone posting on here hasn't driven one or looked on the inside, really your commenting on something you don't know about anyhow. I liked it even though many said it looked to much like the smoothed out foreign cars that have half the horse power.

more than anything it was a let down......not in the horse power catagorie, or creature comforts, but straight curb apeal. in most peoples minds myself included you could get a better looking car for a better price, and thats what they most people did. Re: Just another GM failure!!

I have driven many and I still thought it was a let down from a styling stand point. It is a Holden Monaro with a IMO less then edgy Grand Prix front end on it. Other then that the sheet metal was pretty much on touched. And of course it is a left hand drive car. But those car do handle and run strong it just needed to have better styling to make it original and bring in the younger US market. But lets not make it appear it is being cut for any other reason the GM not wanting to invest a ton of money into the platform. From what I have been told it is selling well in the US and of course it isn't like they are bringing a ton of then into the US anyways.
Long story short the platform the new Camaro is going to use will and is a better use of what little money the general has left then that platform. I am first to jump in line for a new Camaro but the good thing is I will have driven a few before they ever hit the dealers.
