broken bolt

Is anyone here good at removing broken bolts? I broke a small screw (M8) that holds the shifter assembly on my banshee. Thanks for any help, AL

Re: broken bolt

Sometimes you can cut a little notch in it with a dremel and then screw it right out with a small flathead screwdriver -- if you can get to it.

Thats the best method, the next best is using an "easy-out" and yes you have to drill a hole in the middle of what's left of the bolt. Let me know if you need more info, it seemed I had to remove a broken bolt every other day when I was younger and always working on shiatt.

Re: broken bolt

Try grinding a sharp point on a piece of hard metal rod. Then tap in direction to remove.

I got a nut to go back on the bolt. what if i could put a weld on the center of the nut and just turn it out? would that work?

Yeah that would work been there done that. Usually welding the nut in the center will aid in loosing the bolt from the part it is stuck in.
