Cops should go to trial for MURDER
Cops should go to trial for MURDER
Another example of cops chasing a biker at high speed just for a ticket and causing death. This endangers everyone on the road and all just for a ticket. If this guy was a murder on the loose or of that nature, then maybe it would be excusable. Bunch of BS, cops are guility here if they were going over the speed limit I say.

i cant imagine the loss of this kids family.or the guilt id have if i let my 17 YEAR OLD CHILD ride a 165 mph superbike alone or with anyone.we hear about this sh!!it every year guys ,young kids getting killed for doing something stupid.sorry dan but i disagree.its THE LAW to stop when you see flashers!just like it is to have plates, ins, blinkers, endorsement, etc.there are plenty of stupid laws in this great state, but id put my best guess this kid wasnt breaking one of them.im about fed up with hearing about these children, with no supervision on bikes doin stupid stuff.the cops have the right to chase anyone who breaks the law and decides to run.my son wants a 600 and from the beginning our agreement was that he wouldnt ride with anyone but me until he was 18 and i can guarantee he would be a good rider by then.being a good rider isnt measured by wheelies and stoppies, its about responsibility and i havent seen alot of that with these young guys that think they are invincible. rip ryan......

And Rusty is correct even further...that a good rider isn't about wheelies and stoppies but decision making and responsibilty. And I don't know where I would have ended up if Rusty didn't teach my first season.
..Love ya Dog...my accidents have all been stupid as *****...but they would have been worse if I didn't have the lecture and guidance that Rusty provided early in my riding.Flip

Very well put Rusty. I agree with both Rusty and Dan. As far as this goes, he shouldn't have ran. The police were just doing there job. You can't say "If there's a chase over 75 mph, disengage the pursuit." If that was the truth then no criminal would ever be caught. As far as the police knew, he was a rapist or a murderer. In thier minds, why else would he run? I feel horrible for the family of the young man, because I know how it feels. I just buried my cousin a week ago, who wasn't even 20. This sucks and I hope and pray for the best of the family. I hope some good can come of the situation.
My
on the Police is that they have a job that they must perform. I respect most officers, because how many peolpe do you know would take a bullet for someone they don't know. The police are here to protect and serve. When this is forgotten by the officers is when problems arise. The officers are human beings and will make errors in judgment. Its always easier to judge someone else's mistakes, just keep in mind their perspective and imagine how quick something like this can happen. All I can say is that the police should excercise a little common sense and use the best judgement possible when chasing anyone. On the other hand, if a cop wants to write a loitering ticket for hanging out on your bike in the ghetto, all the while someone is being murdered two blocks away, or if they wanna write a careless ticket for stunting in an empty parking lot while a 10 year old kid is being sold crack......

. Like I said before, use common sense and get your priorities in line. PROTECT AND SERVE, just like your badge says.

Fence rider, how's that? If I break the law I'll expect the reprecussions of my actions. I just think some laws should be protected before others. Its called priorities.
If a guy is being raped in the *** by flip on one side of the street and I'm rockin wheelies on the other, I would hope the cop would tend to the raped man instead of writing me a ticket.

And what is with the unlikely occurences near guys doing wheelies??? Murders two blocks away, men commiting sodomy on other men, babies getting nailed to trees!WTF???
Loitiering around abandon industrial parks and telling me that crime is happening two blocks away is BS...The crime is what is about to happen where the idiot white guys happen to be loitering.

So what you're really saying is you'd try to rape me while I'm doing a wheelie? I think we have larger problems now than loitering tickets. By the way, you did have another man on your bike last night...correct?

Re: Cops should go to trial for MURDER
My oppinion on this matter is that you shouldn't run! plain and simple...
That speeding ticket was not worth this kids life. Yes, From the cops perspective this kid ran because he probably had something to hide. But who knows?
Whenever I meet a new rider, I try to give as many pointers as possible on riding. I always try to stress that they should keep their head on a swivle, Don't go out and try to stunt with the big dogs right away, learn how to handle your machine before you do anything else, and finally, if you get lit up by the police, just pull over. In the end, it's not worth your life to try to out run them, so much can go wrong, and you can't outrun the motorolla.
In the end this is a tragic end to this kid life. I would hope that this kid is rememberd for how he lived, and not how he died.
RIP Ryan, and my condolences go out to his family and friends.

This is the 2nd time i've posted this...
This topic has been on the firing lines many times.
I still feel that if you run, and you wreck, it's your fault... NOT the police that were chasing you.
If you were speeding and get caught, then pull over and take the ticket. you get what you deserve! (and I speed too, so don't think i'm taking a 'holier than thou' approach)
As for the family and friends... the rider made a decision to run from the police... now they think that the police shouldn't have been chasing him.
well, take the number of chases that happen... (bikes, cars, everything).
90% or more of those who ran had warrants or have done something that they SHOULD be stopped for.
remember something. The cops don't know if your running just to be an ***, or if your running cause you just killed 3 people in a robbery!
DON'T BE SO HARD ON THE COPS!
Don't blame someone else for the reprocussions of decisions that you made on your own.

Re: Cops should go to trial for MURDER
Well here's my
When you get a bike its a responiblity that most people cant handle thats why everyone doesnt have one. I hear all the time "id get one but id kill myself on it" and those people probably would. It takes something in a person to be able to handle one of these machines there crazy. You guys give me alot of **** and you should. I make stupid decisions alot its part of growing up and hearing about it helps me realize what im doing is wrong.
This kid made a stupid decison. Unfortuanatily it took his life. I agree both ways here cops have to do there jobs just like everyone else. But at the same time there is a limit. This kid prob exceeded speeds of 120mph running and in my opinion if a cops see's that he isnt going to stop and is willing to risk his life getting away then he should put in a BOL for his bike and give up and maybe get him parked somewere later. I feel sad for his family fliper and I went to Nicks seeing last year and i had to walk out because of the way they screamed in pain. My deepest condolences go out to his family, friends and those who knew him im sure he will be missed greatly.

Re: Cops should go to trial for MURDER
Good comments guys, I still don't believe police should go on high speed chases after someone for speeding........wouldn't the cop have to speed in the first place to do that. I read more and more about innocent by standers who get killed in police chases for something as stupid as a ticket. THE LAW MAKES NO SENSE. If's its a hardend criminal or murder OK, but a kid speeding doesn't make sense. The only reason the law exist is to make sure the roads and people on them are safe. A 120 mph chase doesn't fall in that guide line. If I were the parents of the kid killed in that wreck, you have to pull me off a bloody pulp of what was a cop punched to death after he chased my kid on public roads and caused him to crash.

again i i cant imagine the pain his loved ones must be feeling.im very sorry about this loss but maybe responibility among fellow riders will result in this discussion.

The reason kids run is because cops hand out "wreckless" tickets like candy at a parade. Not to mention we all make dumb choices sometime (especially at a young age) and you shouldn't have to die for that.Maybe a few breaks by the PoPo would go a long way.Again, if the cop can't catch the person over 80 mph, with a radio, police block or description of rider...........then let him go and get em another day..........no harm done other than someone got away with speeding which we all do every single day. Not worth someone dying.

How do you know that all they're getting away with is speeding. Maybe he just knocked off a 7eleven and killed the clerk. Take a cops perspective on situation. How does he know whether the rider is a young kid making a stupid mistake or a hardened criminal getting away with murder. Most of the criminals out there usually get tripped up on something stupid anyway, like a seatbelt violation or speeding.
