Innocent till prove guilty, it's the law. To asume someone has done something wrong is not only wrong but down right racist in a lot of cases. If this were the case, they should just have a sting on every rode every day because they could catch some one bad......traffic might be a biatch though. Fight crime, drugs, rape and find missing kids.........that what I pay these fuccks for.
Re: Cops should go to trial for MURDER
Personally I think police officers should use their heads when it comes to chasing. Can a police car catch a motorcycle NOPE not even a Harley. Now if the guy on the bike runs he is either skilled enough to out perform an officer in a car or stuipid enough to kill himself or someone incent victim. Any person that thinks out running a cop is about going as fast as your bike can go really isn't smart enough to out run a cop and if they do out run them their are only getting lucky.
I do think cops have the right to chase someone. But when a person running has proven they are willing to get away at ANY cost then it is time to break the chase off. Hell with all the radios and cops on the road these days you could scale the chase back the guy running would must likely think he got away and slow down and most the time go to a "safe" place. When they reached that safe place the officers could come and get the bad guy. If I loose a family member because a officer is to fing hard headed to call a chase off after the person running has proven he will do anything to get away I promise you I find that officer when he is off duty and beat him to a bloody fing pulp. The same would also go for the guy that caused the chase if they get lucky enough to catch him.

They're not assuming anything. The person they're chasing already broke the law by speeding or doing whatever.
Re: Cops should go to trial for MURDER
Everyone makes good points and you can take any side, it all depends on the perspective taken.
I'm taking the side of the police because I think if people knew that all they had to do to get away with a crime is to go fast, then things would definitely get out of control.

The reason kids run is because cops hand out "wreckless" tickets like candy at a parade. Not to mention we all make dumb choices sometime (especially at a young age) and you shouldn't have to die for that.Maybe a few breaks by the PoPo would go a long way.
Again, if the cop can't catch the person over 80 mph, with a radio, police block or description of rider...........then let him go and get em another day..........no harm done other than someone got away with speeding which we all do every single day. Not worth someone dying.

How do you know that cop wasn't chasing the biker because the biker seen the cop dealing crack or doing something illegal.
It's false to assume all the cops are good because they've got a badge. Go watch "Training Day", it's more real than you think. Re: Cops should go to trial for MURDER

My point isn't to call off a chase because it is at high speeds. But if it is at high speeds through neighborhoods it should be called off to prevent from putting the lives of innocent people at risk over something that CAN BE CALLED OFF. A CHASE CAN BE CALLED OFF AT ANY POINT WITHIN THE CHASE. Once an officer starts a chase they have the ability to stop it when they feel it is getting to dangerous. Problem is the officer starts thinking like the criminal. In the way the criminal thinks he can get away and the cop thinks he isn't getting away. His ego makes him not realize when a chase has crossed the too dangerous line. If I remember right a police officer has the duty to protect and serve the public safety. What are they protecting by staying engaged in a dangerous chase?
If a chase has occured the situation is already out of the officers control.
I walk the fence on this one because I believe chases need to exist but I also believe they should be done in a way that doesn't risk innocent people lives. I guess it would be an EGO check rule.

Re: Cops should go to trial for MURDER
God Damn this is some funny ****. I have not seen this much griping about the police since Rodney King. *News Flash* he shouldn't have ran.
So you are saying that the guy will either get away or get caught? HMMM seems that those are the only two options in that scenario...good job well thought out. I guess other variables could enter like alien abduction.
Well, wouldn't a murderer have the "willingness" to get away at any cost, so that would be grounds for letting them get away? Yeah good idea break off the chase, that is a perfect plan.
No, you wouldn't do ****. Why is it the officers fault the d!ckhead who ran caused the whole event. And don't try to pull well the cops should pull out of the chase crap, it is there JOB to catch people and do what it takes to pull criminals off the street no matter the infraction. A person who runs, is an idiot. A person who defends the criminal is a bigger idiot.
Interesting! One could argue that maybe the person that is being chased is out of control on many levels mental and phsyical to name a couple. And that maybe it is the officers job to regain control of that citizen and the situation...who else is expected to control the situation? The criminal right?
They do call off chases in residenial neighborhoods for that reason alone...I have seen on more than a few occasions as a kid and adult throughout Flint. So it is already a procedure! This didn't happen in a neightborhood this happened on a main road, with normal heavy flow traffic. NOT the COPS fault.
And how can you assume that the lives of innocent people aren't at risk if the chase is indeed called off??? (we will come back to this once I get to Dans points, if you can call them that).
Not innocent if you run...that is a law...so there goes that. They did do something wrong they ran. They do use seatbelt stings to catch criminals and generate revenue...and yeah that is ghey to have a law that requires a safety belt...but it is phucking stupid to not take the 5 seconds to put it on. ***** it make money off the ignorant and stubborn. They are fighting crime...it is a CRIME to break the speed limit, it is a CRIME to run!
And WTF...to use TRAINING DAY as an example of police work...hey while we are at it what about Police Academy. Or Maybe you should be on the look out for detectives in Yellow suits like **** Tracy. Or Dragnet yeah Dragnet. WTF

Re: Cops should go to trial for MURDER
***** all traffic cops. I used to stop every time they wanted me to. Was polite and professional to them. Got a ticket EVERY time so ***** that BS about "I would have just given you a warning if you would have stopped". They have taught me that if I see them behind me coming after me for speeding that my best bet is to take off. Yes, the consequences are more severe, I could die. If I stopped for them and took their tickets every time then I would not be able to drive, then I would be fired, then I would be a bum trying to live with Flip which would depress me so much I would either shoot myself or OD on Drano. Or I could stop speeding. Oh wait, I don't drive with my eyes on the speedometer all the time. Sometimes I legitimately go 5-8 miles an hour over the limit without being aware of it. The next time I glance down I'll correct it, but i have been tagged for doing 6 over within sight of my house and got no break and even attitude for being on a bike. OK, FINE...I learned my lesson real well Mr. PIG. Next time you see me, you won't be seeing me for long. Thinking back on this, I realize there is one difference though. I have been riding since I was in 4th grade and I never ran from the cops until last year. I knew that I never had the skills to do it before. Not saying that I have the skills to do it now, but at least I can judge how fast I can go in a turn and make it, which a lot of young riders don't have.
This whole situation reminds me of that rider that died in St. Joe/BentonHarbor and started those riots. The cops chased him at 100+ speeds through residential areas AND THEY KNEW WHO HE WAS!!! The cop knew him and could have been waiting at his house to pick him up, but no, he had to chase him, probably cause it was exciting for him, and probably because he wanted to throw the guy on the ground and show him who was the better man and that he should respect his power next time. Well I say ***** you **********, and ***** all the rest of the traffic cops that give out revenue generating tickets. Give out tickets for cell phone use, oh, and the guy with the license plate RMK 19 who I saw READING A MAGAZINE while driving down 23 last week. That is a hell of a lot more dangerous than someone going 10 mph over the speed limit.
They should definitely have chase laws here like so many other states are doing. Might save a life when the cop chasing me piles into a minivan with kids and I get away anyway. FTP.

i agree with jeff in respect to calling off chases when a residential neighborhood becomes involved.UNLESS THE COP WAS VIEWED SELLING CRACK.
i think dan is on crack and is taken in a lil too much by the movies he watches

Flip you don't get it...... But when you have a family you may just get it. By the way it is the officer’s responsibility to keep the chase "safe" if this means calling it off then call it off. Quit sitting on your high horse and act like your views are right and nothing else exists. I can bet you if a officer killed my family member of mine I would beat him to a pope just as I would you if you were to kill or injure one of my family members trying to ride a wheelie and loosing control then smashing into a fence where one of my family members are.
But one thing I figured out from your logic is that two wrongs make a right. I would like to know of how many chase the police interact in how many of the people running are actually harden murders or have committed a crime that requires another innocent persons live in jeopardy?

Again we don't know what happened and Your all ready to linch this cop. Is it all possiable that the cop followed all the rules in this case? Could he have just hit the lights andf Ryan bailed until the crash?
Re: Cops should go to trial for MURDER
I have read this whole post and I agree with a lot and I disagree with more...
How can you justify letting a criminal go?? (yes, you are now considered a criminal if you just took off from the cops)...... I dont get it, has anyone ever thought to ask, if we all just friggin pull over, maybe the cops would be a little more leanent... One night, MZscooter and I were out on the freeway at like 4am. We blew past 2 state boys at 145 MPH.... Did I think I had a shot to get away, absolutly, but I would never endanger another rider or someone on the road.. So we pulled over, the first thing they said to us was, "thanks for not running" and they never gave us a ticket... Instead, we sat on the side of the road and talked for a few about bikes...
What makes you people think that it is right to run??? I dont get it.
A young kid lost his life because he was (I feel) he was to stupid to pull over.. Many people have died for a much better cause than a fawking ticket... ie, War.......
Cops will always chase, deal with it.!!!!.. If the cops wont think of the kids on the road, (as you would say).. Why dont you guys?????, I have read this whole post and I havent heard one person say, Hey, if there not going to give up, I will because my family's on that road......
Wake the fawk up people... It's just not worth it....
