I guess Kettering isn't so bad.....

Who will provide a 12 Bar, pay for a subframe, and allow you to stunt on school property......yep, Kettering. All in the name of science.

Don't know how I'm getting away with it, but my capstone class is gonna allow me to test the forces on a 12 bar. How pimp is this?!?!?! Allow me.....ITS F*CKING PIMP. :YEAH

Check the picks, this is for real. Ahhh, getting class credit for what I love....thats how school should be.

Oh, yea....Special thanks out to Niner. Picked up all his calculations from his time in the course last year.

Yea, thats why I thank him at the bottom of the post. I never had to do any calculations, they all were done. When he tried it last year the data aquisition system ran out of power and they couldn't get any numbers. Thats why they're letting me do it again. :YEAH

I didn't **** up, the professor did. "gee i figured the batteries were good, but I guess I always had the power cord plugged in so it was runninng off that and not the batteries." Break the subframe Borne, that was the goal of the original project. I wanted to know how hard you had to slam the bar before you broke the subframe. ....and Lucky I got a 100% on the project.

I'll see what I can do. My track record isn't good though, I'll probably snap my frame before a subframe.

First couple scrape it as lightly as possible.
Next couple, park it.
Then pull in the clutch, bounce it off the limiter and dump the clutch. :YEAH

Don't even have to hit the limiter for that.

Your transducer doesn't look like it would be very sensitive. I would have used load cells and recorded all three directions. Which you may doing with your transducer. I would have also install an accelerometer to capture the Gs of the scrap. You could tell a lot more information then a few full bridge strain gages at least I am assuming they are wired and laid in a complete wheat stone bridge configuration.
