Lapeer is STOOOOOOPID

so I read in the news paper how Lapeer is the first county in Michigan to back the law that will allow you to ride without a helmet. They say all the stuff about how it will bring something like 1.15 billion dollars in tourisim to our great state.

Reading the article they were talking about statistics of biker deaths/injuries with and without helmets, and freedom of choice. But not once did they mention how everyones insurance is going to skyrocket, and don't tell me it won't cause you all know it will. If they would use that $1.15 billion on keeping the bike insurance down, then I would back it, but I already pay an *** ton just for PLPD, can't even begin to think about affording Full Coverage... And I don't want to hear anything from you old ****** about how low your insurance payments are.

enough ranting

An ***-ton for PLPD?!?!?!?!? Mine's only $170 for a year. If you can't afford that, then you need to go back to BK....Ding fries are done, ding fries are done.

Re: Lapeer is STOOOOOOPID

FL has a "no helmet" law, but to ride without you need 10k in PIP insurance. Personally though it's stupid not to ride without.

Re: Lapeer is STOOOOOOPID

The cheapest I could find, was $415 for 6 months, and with no job, that kinda hurts.

They say that because the surrounding states don't have helmet laws it keeps other riders from visiting our state.

I Just forsee nothing but higher insurance rates for bikers and more kids getting hurt on the horizon.

Perhaps I should show them all the armor that I wear, maybe that would lower my insurance

Re: Lapeer is STOOOOOOPID

The helmet law does keep a lot of bikers from coming here. If someone wants to ride without a helmet, so be it. Insurance won't go up, Michigan already has some of the highest bike insurance I've ever seen. Maybe if your choosing to cover your own medical under your insurance, but then they should just add a waiver if you don't wear a helmet........then your not covered. Fuuckk this helmet and seatbelt law ****, just one step from becoming communist while we trying free other countrys. BAN THE SEATBELT LAW NOW.

Re: Lapeer is STOOOOOOPID

ya man if you pay more then 400 for the enitre year of plpd then you either are claiming your own medical or getting ripped...i remember first time i went to get mine and it was 600 a year....and i told them i have my own medical coverage and they dropped it to like 280.
