I think somepeople are too stuipid to understand the law has not passed. The devil lady still hasn't signed it yet and most likely won't. She might sign it if she could make it a 2000.00 a year fine ot be autherized to ride without a helmet. Soon as it passes if it passes it will be all over the news stations.

You can ride without one ,they will give ya a tix but it wont stick in court. If you have the time to mess with court and the popo. You know if they pull ya over ya know they will find somthing else to give ya a tix for.

Re: No helmets in MI?

No it would not . If you look at the lax it says "Head protection" that could be a hat or a bandana. The State popo were supposed to approve which healmets were dot and they never did . Do some research befor you open your mouth

Re: No helmets in MI?

You need to do some research it says DOT approved saftey HELMET. FYI State Popo do not set the standards for a DOT approved helmets it is on a federal level. Snell is a testing done by a private company that has it's own standatds the exclede the DOT approve tests. You are so owned on this one RetardJoe.... Most those shity helmets the Harley guys wear are unapproved and could be ticketed.

Having been a member of ABATE in the past, I would have to say that this statement is mostly accurate. However, the vast majority of helmets are unapproved - not just the cruiser-style skullcaps. A lot of the ones we have are also unapproved and do not carry any kind of DOT sticker. There was also something done about the "head protection" loophole, so you can't ride around with a bottlecap and a rubber band. Also, don't expect the ticket to be thrown out. If you want to engage in Civil Disobedience, make contact with someone from ABATE Region 20 and find out which Court Districts and Judges support it before you do it. Otherwise, you're on your own if you get ticketed.

Re: No helmets in MI?

257.658 Crash helmets; rules
A person operating or riding on a motorcycle, on a public thoroughfare shall wear a crash helmet on his or her head. Crash helmets shall be approved by the department of state police. The department of state police shall promulgate rules for the implementation of this section pursuant to the administrative procedures act of 1969, 1969 PA 306, MCL 24.201 to 24.328. Rules in effect on June 1, 1970, shall apply to helmets required by this act. In 2002 the MSP changed the MCL, to reflect what approved helmets were. Until this point if you were to contest a hearing from a Magistrate, to fight the civil infraction, it would have been thrown out, but the law has changed since then. Before you could wear a hat, skull cap, bandana, or whatever and get away with it, because the law was not specfic to what an approved crash helmet was. But get caught without a helmet now... Your out $80

Actually, it's a good topic. I hate that fu(king (unt too. I can't believe we let a canadian become govenor. She should take her overinflated salary, and go down town and have a rat gnaw off those moles on her face(borrowed from "Uncle Buck"). Seriously, I hate her and all the different ways she is trying to get money from us, like increasing all the driving fines and that 'bad driver fee'. What a dou(he bag. If she would pay more attention on all the corrupt politicians, she would have more than enough money. Or she could have a booth like at a carnival, and people could pay $10 to punch her in the face. I know where my next paycheck would go...

Re: No helmets in MI?

She up the cost on titles, trailer plates, licenses, fees, and ciggarettes. I don't smoke, but everything is aimed at the middle to lower class. She blows goats nuts .

Plus all that "MONEY" from the michigan lottery that is suppose to go to schools.

Grand Rapids schools just got rid of there buses for the kids. Then they are gonna contract that out.

Fuct'n dumb.
