Okay, I'm voicing my opinion
I know everyone is probably sick of seeing the story about Terri Schiavo, the lady that had her feeding tube removed. As a parent I think the decision to remove her feeding tubes is BS. The parents swear that she smiles when they come in the room and seems to acknowledge things. People have come out of coma's after 15 and 20 years before. So now a mom gets to picture here daughter dying of thirst and hunger for the next week until she dies. If it were my son in that condition I would be there everyone day for my whole life hoping for improvement. I know this is now a stupid political battle, but I don't believe it's the right thing to do in this case. She is not a vegatable without movement, she blinks and smiles and moves. Just my
worth.

real difficult thing to talk about, I can only try to imagine it from both sides of the fence, I don't know what I would do, nor do I think I could honestly say without being in such a terryifying position, my best to the family and I hope everything works out for the best.
Re: Okay, I'm voicing my opinion
my mom, a nurse who sees this sort of thing all the time and the long term effect on th e familys has told our family that we should pull the tube on her, I told her she wouldn't have to ask twice
, but seriously lets just hope that we are never in that situation and especially dont ever have to do it admist a publicty circus

It is most unfortunate that the government has to get involved with a family matter.
I heard somewhere that it was her choice not to go on in that condition. But I could be wrong.
My oppinion, I think it is each individuals choice, I wouldn't want to starve to death, cause that would suck more then Drowning, or suffocating, but, who knows, maybe being in a coma is like the best thing that happened to someone... What if in your coma it's as close to paradise you would ever get?
I say, Don't pull the plug on me if I'm in that condition, It's a selfish decision to kill yourself if you ask me.
Damn I'm still pissed at what that VegasMetro said...

Re: Okay, I'm voicing my opinion
***** that, if I am ever in that condition, MY family knows better. As far as her case was concerned, she wasn't in a coma (from my understanding) she was a vegetable with brain damage. That being the case when you have brain damage you can not recover from that and she wasn't going to get better because of it. Parents should have the right, up until their kid gets married and then it becomes an issue for the spouse of that person...unless that person proves to be doing it for selfish reasons.
As far as killing yourself...yeah in a sense telling people in advanced that you wanna die if this happens to you is killing yourself, but if this happens to you, the "true" you is already dead (with respect to brain damage).

Re: Okay, I'm voicing my opinion
It is deep but a lot of the information everyone is hearing is from the parents side of this and more of it is misleading then actual truth. All I can say is I have seem reports where DR's say after 10 years of being in this state of mind she has a 0% chance of ever recovering or changing her current condition. Before making any judgements I would research it and get both sides of this story. The husband has done way more then the parents would like you to believe also sometimes seeing just small clips of video doesn't give you the whole story.
To me being alive has more to do with then just being able to breath. I would never want to live that way and have told Stacy many times to not let me live that way. If it was my child I would fight and try everything i could to bring them back but at some point if nothing works you have to accept how things are.

Re: Okay, I'm voicing my opinion
I agree with Jeff, we probably don't know the whole story and all, but i do feel that if she is brain dead and has almost 0% of recovery and she is a vegtable then i think they should pull the plug...but if shes showing some recovery then i guess you would just have to hope for the best. its such a sensitive decision you can only ask God to help you with. and i also believe that it should be the spouses decision. they probably know you better now then your parents do anyway.
I just hope that if i were ever in the situation my family would pull the plug because i dont want them up at the hospital everyday with me when they should be out living their own lives....so pull the plug and spark a fatty for me!!!
