new tires-question
I just received new tires for my r1,
Avon-azaro av50sp pro series 190/50 zr17 for the rear n av49-sppro series 120/70 for the front.they are track tires.I got them cuz they should be super sticky :YEAH (but they'll proly wear out faster than the D-208 tires Im used to).I got em for $250.00 shipped(thought that was pretty good) anyway my question is this... have any of you tried them-what did do think? AND I didnt realize when I ordered them the difference in profile "50" as opposed to the "55" im used to,how will this difference effect handling?

First off they will wear ALOT faster then 208s as the compound of the tire is a lot softer. It is most likely we will never push a tire far enough to need the extra grip of a race tire on the street.
Next the 50/profile means the tire has less sidewall then your old one you most likely will never feel any effects of this. The 50vs55 is an aspect ratio. So a higher number means more hieght in the sidewall. One thing you may notice is bumps being rougher as there is not as much sidewall to help absorb the bumps. A 50 vs 55 aspect ratio should actually give you faster turn-in being the sidewall is smaller and is more rigid.
So in all other then going through the tire faster you will probley not notice much of anything different.

hey thanx for the input,so the 50 vs 55 thing is actually a good thing.cool cuz that was my concern. :YEAH I did have a 180 pirelli on last summer for a short time-a used one I got from taylor in lapeer.I loved the stickyness but it did wear out pretty frickin fast
n the 180 just wasnt anywhere near as stable feeling in long wheelies.so as long as the lower profile doesnt hurt me I guess i did good. the 208's I have on now are still in pretty good shape,I gotta wear em out so I can try the avons in w.virginia memorial weekend :YEAH
