Anyone know about blown in insulation
I want to add insulation in my attic, and Im thinking blown in is the way to go, has anyone had any experience with the blown in insulation or know anyone that has done it? just thought I would ask here cuz most of you guys are homeowners too..

do u only wanna do the attic?
do u have acess to the attic?
if ur only doin the attic and u have acess ur better off in the long run to lay batting..............

Yea I have acess and there is already 1 layer of batting down, your the first to say to go with more batting, why do you recommend it over the blown in? Thanks for your input!

because god forbid u ever have to do any interiro ceiling work..........of decide to do anything with the attic...........that **** is messy and a pain in the *** to do anything with once its in............plus u can do batting yerself and save yerself some bucks........

oh and another problem i have found with it in my house...................wasps............i have that vermiculite type granular insulation............they nest in it during the winter and i have wasps in my house from time to time

Amen, They have that **** in my Attic. When I open the attic door it goes all over. It's even found it's way into my cold air returns and I've drilled a few holes in the ceiling and it was like sand pouring out of an hour glass. 

thats nuffin..........i redid my enire 2nd floor.............house built in 1899.........plaster walls and ceilings........took out 4 walls 3 of which were supporting walls so i had to post and beam them ......... everytime i so much as put a crack in the ceiling tryin to get some of the joists straight i had the countdown to new years goin on

If you do use blown insulation make sure to put venting in, and too thick. If you use to much it will settle and not work properly. That's when moisture builds up and you get mold. I used to do that a long time ago.
