Can I stunt with a 96 Yamaha YZF600?

I have a 96 Yamaha YZF600, with some modifications to it such as 180 rear tire, Dyno Jet stage 1 jet kit, K&N filter, and muzzy exhaust. I can do the typical wheelies in first gear, but can not advance to second gear. Should I just say "F" it and go get something bigger, or stick with what I have and re-gear it? I want to do all the major stunts, but I don't think that I have the right bike for the job. Fuel injection is where it is at, but at this time I can not afford to get a new bike. I would appreciate all the feedback I can get on this subject, you can e-mail me at my personal e-mail at www.rollerracing@hotmail.com , thanx!!

dude, i believe anything can be stunted...you might just have to develop a different style. it'd be cool if you learned to do stuff on it, cause it'd be a different bike. plus you'll be forced to figure things out the hard way, and you'll be a champ when you upgrade. i know a guy who can wheelie scooters, so i think you're waaay better off with your yzf600!
good luck with it.

I stunt my 95' YZF600R. Look at my avatar(Blurry, but it wasn't me taking my own pic's). I repainted it and now it's minty, but I still beat the hell out of it. It just takes a little to figure out the right speeds to get it up in. Try about 50mph in 2nd gear for the bounce-up. GL and welcome to SL

Yes, I used to have a '95 YZF600, and I put -2, +2 gearing on it, and I could power up (no clutch) 3rd gear standups on it with ease all day.

I see you're still rocking the original purple wheels I found a few small places from where the previous owner missed spots on the wheels when they took all of it off. Gotta love those color schemes those years, all about the pastels

My bike is maron/purple, with black wheels. I made the mistake of thinking that I could polish out my frame, until I found out the frame is steel, not aluminum\

I know what you mean. Good old bike regardless. That steel frame paid for itself when I laid mine down at 60........I grinded/sanded out the small scrapes and you can't tell(Oh yeah, and some bondo)

Hell Yeah.......bet my first bike was heavier than that one And yes I wheelied it, only in first gear. Not like I could change sprockets, it was shaft drive.

When my brother wrecked my 95 I tried to find a new front wheel that wasn't purple, but f**k it I rock the purple wheels and I keep em shiny!!!
By the way, I'm only one down in the front, plan to go up big in the rear some time this season.

Re: Can I stunt with a 96 Yamaha YZF600?

check this out, for those people who have steel frames and want to "bling" out the bike, here is an allternative. I found on e-bay motors, and kit that makes your frame look like "Diamond Plate" in a hologram!! It only cost me $85.00, it should be here soon, and as soon as I get the parts back from chrome, I will put some pictures on Stunt Life!! THe people who make this kit are called SLYDOG RACING!! They make these kits for all sportbikes! They are based out of Pensacola FL.

Re: Can I stunt with a 96 Yamaha YZF600?

I payed for my Diamond plate Hologram today, so i should have the product sometime this week, and when I get it finished i will post some pictures! Also I received an e-mail from PRIMEDIA about something that I applied for back in March. There is a program called "This old Bike", and I am a candidate for the program, i am waiting on the return e-mail so that I can be a part of it!! What they do is, take your "old" bike and refurbish it for free!! So hopefully I will here something back soon!! I will let you know!!
