Newbie from Pittsburgh PA

Hey all. I've actually come across this forum numerous times after searching on Google for various things...I think the one I kept coming back for was the wheelie tutorial. I don't really have any desire to stunt seriously, but I would like to improve my wheelie-ing abilities and be able to ride at balance point.

One of the reasons I joined is because I was going to ask if anyone was from Pittsburgh, and if they knew of a good/safe location to practice. I'm not a fan of the idea of trying to learn on the road. I'd much prefer a wide open, longer area, away from the public's view (and any police officers as well!). If anyone from Pittsburgh happens to see this, I'd appreciate it. And if there's a particular forum where that type of question belongs, I'd appreciate that feedback as well.

Thanks! Looking forward to learning wheelies!

Hey man, welcome to both of us I guess! What are you riding these days? I have a 2014 Ninja 1000, just moved up from a 2007 Yamaha FZ6. I don't actually have too much interest in stunting, would just like to be able to do a wheelie anytime I want and ride it out at balance point. Very little desire to do Endos or anything else though, but maybe some day. I know my sport/sport-touring Ninja isn't optimal for stunting, but it certainly has enough power to get the front end up.

I'm a little familiar with the Washington area. My brother went to school at W&J, and my dad works out that way, so I've been out there 10 times or so. Are there any areas that have little to no traffic, or a wide open warehouse area/parking lot where people wouldn't be watching (or calling the police) for practicing wheelies?
