Shifting Gears (I Need Help)

I haven't riden on a motorcycle yet and I was wondering about shifting. The only question I have is about the throttle. Do you have to let off the throttle when shifting? Or can you just hold it where it is? Sorry for the noob question.

Re: Shifting Gears (I Need Help)

kinda both. Depends on your RPM and speed. Just dont gas it too much and pop the clutch or youll wheelie or possibly flip. If you are shifting to second at 35, and you know your bike does 35 in second at say 6k ??, then thats about where you should have the throttle when you let the clutch out.
