it shows that they are comfortable with their new life, that they respect you, and that they love you. its important that kids grow up in a home where they feel safe and loved.

i can understand u feeling like its too late. but if he genuinely is trying, u should let him try because whether its too late or not is up to the kids. i say this providing he doesnt let them down all the time. if he does then they dont need that instability.

i try my hardest to keep quiet to the kids. when my son breaks down and throws a fit about how his life is just so unfair and we're mean, i ask him if he wants to go to kansas if he thinks his life here is so bad. then he usually shuts up
uh yeah...she was telling me i should leave him because he treats me like **** and he doesn't do anything with his daughter ( i was pregnant at the time with austin) .... she was hooking up with him in the meantime

 

i'd ask her if her "dad" makes her call her stepmom that. if he does i'd have a talk with him about it. she should only do it if she feels comfortable. my daughter ASKED to call me that.

it's a long story. the stepmom told alex the if she calls mike daddy then she has to call her mommy....well that's what alex told me. alex has ALWAYS called her momma amy...i hated that but i tolerated it. mommy is taking it too far. i'm the mommy, i've always been the mommy, she hasn't.

no no no, becky. u two are using the kids as a tug of war for a simple title. its not about whats fair for u and the step parents. its what makes the kids feel comfortable. if my kids felt comfortable callin one step parent mom or dad but not the other, then u have to let it ride. if the kids don't feel it, then they shouldnt be forced to do it.

 

the only thing i said to alex about it was i asked her why she called her that instead of momma amy because like i said she's NEVER called her that....she said because momma amy said she had to because she called michael daddy. i told alex she didn't have to do that if she didn't want to. and that was that....now....i've bitched about it a lot because it pisses me the **** off...but not to the kids.

yeah. everything happens for a reason. when my exwife left, i was very hurt, but now i realize that i wouldnt have stayed with her anyway. her personality and mine didnt mesh well. i remember having to meet up with them after the hurricane for lunch. i listened to them bicker a little bit and man, i totally felt relieved to no longer be married to her. i'm sure she feels the same about me, and i can respect that lol.

 

i'd have a talk with ur ex about that and tell him and his wife that it's really about what the kids feel comfortable doing, not just cuz its not fair to one step parent. they're adults. they shouldnt take it personal and just deal with it.

 

i know. when i see or hear about them or anyone related to them i laugh because THANK GOD i'm not still with that. hahahahah. we're in a much better place now.
