this is mike
so i thought i got rid of my spyware, nope it came back. every time i go to google, or look at ****, i get IE popup windows that run in the background and just kill my processor power.
Just for fun i decided to try to get rid of IE, to see if it could be done.
First attempt - renaming iexplore.exe - and within 3 seconds the file was automatically replaced. So I looked around to see where it was being replaced FROM, and delete that. No luck, couldnt find it. Thought I found it at first, but the test proved me wrong.
Second attempt - delete the registry section for IE. Well, lets just say I should have renamed it instead of deleting, what a moron lol. I got rid of it, thats for sure. Desktop icon is gone, and when I click the exe, it starts up, then closes itself a couple seconds later with out doing anything visible.
Now heres the problem.. Firefox opens as normal, but the ONLY site I can hit is 192.168.1.1 my router of course. Any dns name or IP address i put in there, it says "Looking for: " and never finds it.
When I use nslookup, i can resolve names no problem, and I can ping their ip addresses. I just cant do anything in the browser.
