Pump is submerged way under ground. No idea how far. Could be anywhere from 30' to 300'. The guy coming to look at it is the one who drilled it. He might have records of how deep it is.

Finally getting up to speed and a little bit ahead on all my programs. I am now responsible for 3 1/2 vehicles with 14 or 15 unique lamps.

If it was setup to suck he would be changing pumps every year. Electric pumps like to push, not pull. Not to mention priming a well pump would be a bitch.

My brother-in-law's father has an above ground pump that they just replaced with another and it lasted 30 years. They have a real shallow well though.

around here wells are only 12 feet deep, so people who have them usually have pumps that suck. I dont expect that to be the case in maine so thats why i asked.

also, ive seem wells where there is an electric pump at the top that pumps water in a closed loop going down to spin a turbo style pump at the bottom.

That makes sense, but seems like it would ice up the second the top pump stopped in Maine.

it was at my grandfathers old house. an 1800's victorian in upstate ny (hills). the well came into the basement which was 54 degrees all year round
