you put a large heavy steel object against the back of the chain, then you lightly whack the pin sticking out with a ballpeen hammer until it takes the shape of a mushroom.

im a little lost but not w ur explanation. ive never used a rivet link before. the rivet link looks exactly like the clip link - it has a plate that you press on and thats it right? so u put a screwdriver between the rivets and c clamp and just tighten. what about 2 small sockets over the rivets and then tighten? would something like that work? i just got this chain in yesterday and i thought there was more to the rivet link than what it is

haha yeah i'll probably do that. ima take off the current sprocket and chain and sell those. when do you wanna do this? then the next job is taking off the radiator to try and get those busted header bolts out. my bike makes so much noise between the chain and busted bolts

yup, it smooshes the end of the pin real nicely. i put a 30 lb steel counter weight on the other side of the chain to keep it from moving when i hit it

remember that u have to cut the old chain off and you won't have a master link after that, if ur trying to sell it. but i think those can be bought.
well, i'd be totally pissed attending a sausage college.

it was a screwdriver bit; just the tip, not a whole screwdriver. using the c clamp, ur pressing the tip of the screwdriver into the rivet, which will make an indentation into the rivet and mushroom it out. i don't see the sockets working in place of the screwdriver tip cuz they won't indent the rivet.

Miguel's idea sounds much simpler though.

Yeah i was. There were a lot of fights all the time because everybody was so hard up. I left after 1 year.

 

i've toned smoking down a good bit. I've prolly smoked about 2 or 3 cigs in the past week. if i can get it to that many in 2-3 weeks i'll be straight.... i hope.
