I've never used a smoker. Do they take forever? Is the meat that much better?

 

omg you have no idea. if you can afford to get one, get one. my dad would always start to smoke the meat the night before

is it easy to obtain moose jerky in maine?

I've never seen it around. Every year someone I know shoots a moose. I guess I could make some.

 

i would smoke stuff left and right. i looooove smoked meats
i'd rather take several pills lol.

 

you only have to check on it every so many hours to make sure that the temperature is ok. my dad would only smoke stuff if we were having a get together or a 'big' dinner. occasionally he'd do it just for us, but we'd eat leftovers for a week. it's definitely worth it cause the meat is so much better.

 

Do most smokers use charcoal?

i know my dad used wood chips....but i'm not sure if he used charcoal as well. i'll have to ask him. i'll talk to him later today and let you know. the best thing is smoked chicken and smoked brisket.....now i'm hungry
