I have been with my company since 1994 . I would lose all my senority , vacations , union dues (specific to local 701) , and my 701 pension .

Re: The new O.M.R. sub-cage thread!!!!

I have 8 1/2 years in 701 . When i hit 10 years , i will be vested in 701 so i can recieve a pension when i retire . But if i stay 30 years in 701 , my pension pay out will be 3 times greater .

I have thought about quitting my job when i reach 10 years . I will be vested . And my union dues that i have paid every month for the last 8 1/2 years will be at least good for something when i retire .

here they're all national i believe but with contractors and casuals they don't have the strength they used to. Unions are probably the best thing to happen to the working class i think

But I.A.M. chicago local 701 is so big , we are considered in a class by ourselves .

I could probably get a I.A.M. union job somewhere , but the pension is different than our chicago 701 and i would lose senority vacations , etc etc . And not all I.A.M jobs are for mechanics like me .

IAM Chicago Local 701 is one of the largest mechanics' locals in the United States representing auto and truck mechanics, heavy equipment, excavating and paving, road building, forklifts, high-rise equipment, tank washers, fuelers, trailer body, marine, container and barge line industries.

Re: The new O.M.R. sub-cage thread!!!!

Thank you mike .

I talked to my mom for about 3 minutes on the phone before she had to hang up at 5:45 am to get ready for surgery . They put a balloon on her heart last night cause her heart was real weak or something .

She said yesterday her heart started hurting real bad , then the pain went to her arm and then her jaw , then they called 911 .

I have to get up for work at 1:30 pm and i should be going to bed , but i can't sleep right now . My mom said the surgery will be like 6 hours . and its going on right now . My dad is supposed to call me after the surgery .

They WERE the best thing to happen to the working class back when they were needed. They are no longer necessary and will be the end of the working class if they keep going the way they are.

Unions are one the main reasons why china and mexico can produce **** at 1/10th the cost that america can. They help their members but hurt the local economy in general. In the 40s, my grandfather lost his business because of unions

The manufacturing unions are going to go away over the next 2 decades. Not because they want to, but because they will be the cause of bankrupcy/failure for every business who has union workers.
