Re: studed tires?

If you're gonna run the snowmobile studs ($$$) , don't get them too long or you'll just bend/snap them. just long enough to clear the tread ,a 1/4-5/8" past. then make sure you get a good sharp stud-cutter for the holes. Charge up the batteries in the drill and go to town, it'll take a looooooonngg time. silicone the base of the studs to the inside of the tire and run Slime in em'. You're gonna have to experiment with the numbers you need to get good traction.

Alot easier and CHEAPER to just run em' like we do on the ice racers (CRF's, YZ's....) and use gold screws from the outside. You'll use and replace a hell of alot of them. buy the longest ones you can and still slime the tires.

good luck

Re: studed tires?

cold cutter screws, lots of them, screw then into the tire, you want the heads with the knotch facing horizontal so they grip better. You can try different patterns, but we just placed lots of them on each tire.

After your done your going to want to add green slime inside the tire to seal it up, and you want to make sure to keep the bike off a concrete as much as possible so you dont dull the studs, wrap them up, or have xtra rims to change it out while on the ice.

its fun, but you have to watch for snow banks, doesnt really hurt when you fall or atleast when i fell, but i was hella padded up.

practicing wheelies in the rain helps a lot to prepair for the ice.

I think i ran about 30 inthe front for pressure, and maybe 8 at the most in the back, you want as many spikes to grip.

I dont recommend doing it when its only like 5 degrees out, sucked ***, but 25-30 was a lot fun.

sorry frank, i was bored

Yep, the cold cutters do work well. Lots is the key word too.
