Having trouble wheeling my zx12

Ive had the bike about 4 mo,- 04 zx-12, when I clutch it up in 2nd it comes right up,but when I feel that im going to far back I let up on the throttle and it comes down slow, and thottle it back up and it stiil comes down slow and I just gain speed. what Im i doing wrong? I dont to just hold the throttle cause I dont want to loop it. Is the bike too heavy in the front? Keep in mind Im 6ft 250lbs :YEAH. some guys tell me to do a standing wheelie on the back peg and you wont have that problem. If I cant master the sitting wheelie how do you expect me to do a standing

just keep practicing man you'll get it. i used to be that way too. i would get the wheel 8 inches off the ground then i chop the throttle and be like omg i almost looped. one day i did a wheelie and it just clicked. keep practicing. and cover the rear brake. good luck.

Re: Having trouble wheeling my zx12

all about back brake...and ur bp(balance point) once u get the bp, u wont even have to worry about the brake. just dont be too twitchy with the throttle.

when you get the feeling that you are going to far back, my assumption is that you are, on the contrary, nowhere near balance point, seeing as you can't power it back up in second with your 1200. you might get the feeling earlier due to the longer wheelbase of the 12. try bringin' it up higher, faster, and don't forget to cover that rear brake.

researched wheelbases:
04 gixxer600 - 55.1 in.
04 gixxer750 - 55.1 in.
03 zx636 - 55.1 in.
99 cbr900 fireblade - 55.1 in.
04 zx12 - 56.5 in.

by the way, before researching the topic, i had no idea so many bikes had equal wheelbases. i've never rode a bike with a wheelbase other than 55.1 inches

Re: Having trouble wheeling my zx12

This thread reminds me of when i had a zx-7r. And all the problems i had when i was learning how to do wheelies. All that weight doesn't help. You just need to get the bike a lot higher.

You should master 1st gear before attempting 2nd gear wheelies

the zx12 is like the zx7 in the fact that the wheel base is longer than the zx6,zx9,zx10-this makes it harder also

Cause stand-ups are easier you can see where you are going and you can rely on the balance of your feet. It might feel weird at first but it has helped me a lot to learn stand-ups first.
