Running outa R's

Hey guys, i FINALLY have the BP almost on lock, atleast im gettin there and holding it there for awhile, still not completely smoothe on the throttle, but me being in 1st all the time is possibly some of the problem.

Im wondering whats the trick to shifting into 2nd while in a wheelie, cause i can ride em out till i run outa RPM's now and hit the rev limiter which sux cause that ends the wheelie fun lol.

Ive tried shifting into 2nd a couple times but am afraid of loopin it backwards as soon as i do, so whats the trick to shifting while in a wheelie?

Oh by the way im geared -1 in the front pulled up 2nd gear ONCE the intire time ive had the bike and that was today, and havnt been able to do it again... its so frustrating.

exactly what he said... but make sure you watch your body position.. try to keep your weight back.. try staggering your stance, works better for some people, definately works better for me.. might be more comfortable for you, and its easier to hold in BP that way, in my opinion.. my f3 comes up 1st -3rd with no problems what so ever..

You can shift by clutching it in and shifting really fast or you can roll off the throttle a little and shift quickly.( that method is kinda tricky, cuz if you don't kick it up hard enough then it will fall into neutral) that might hurt your nutz. lol

Re: Running outa R's

Yeah my 1st gear wheelies are gettin pretty long, but im not exteremly consistant yet. 2nd just yeah... sucks lol.

Im trying to be well rounded for next summer so im tryin to get a feel for as much as possible with whats left of this season. Im attempting Spreaders and gettin them up high and all, just not riding them out and without the "gangsta flavor" heh.

Thanks for the input guys. Im sure its all about my timing

Well if you are hitting rev limiter and running out of rpms than you haven't hit BP yet. When you do you will stop gaining rpm and speed and start maintaining speed and maybe slow down a little.

Re: Running outa R's

no im hitting BP thats for sure, cause ive had a few close calls goin over backwards, my throttle controll is the issue, and 2nd is suppose to be much smoother, im just having problems STAYING in the BP i either let it come down to much or go back to far and am struggling to keep it in the BP. id say my wheelies are about 100 ft, maybe 150 ft at my best.

Re: Running outa R's

what we are saying is that if the bike is accelerating then it isn't at BP. Almost everyone when they are getting to that point , think they are alot closer to going over than they really are. You may have thought you were close to looping but if you saw yourself from someone elses point of view you might be suprised.

get someone to film you so you can get an idea of how high you are.
it helps out a lot.

I remember a couple years ago I thought I was the man :YEAH , then I looked on camera and was incredibly embarrassed on how low i actually was.

practice practice practice!

Re: Running outa R's

try puttin ur left foot back, this will take sum weight off ur arms and let u control the throttle better. stay in first dont move onto second quite yet. with ur left foot back the bike will wobble a lil bit easier so be careful. but yah there bp wereu basically holdin the throttle constant or where ur rps r highe enuff that u can go past bp and start to slwo the wheelie down with jsut throttle. i did fast stuff for about 6 months before i slwoed it down fot the first time so dont get discouraged. jsut go out and practice, everday jsut practice.

Re: Running outa R's

i already know how high im getting, im at the BP just cant stay there heh. when im in a wheelie im damn close to completely vertical. You guys are right about not there if im accelerating, i had one just a bit ago that stayed up with no movement of the throttle at all, so id say im definatly at BP its just perfecting it. Now i wish i could bring up 2nd more then 2 ft in the air ... its pathetic lol
