Re: Yamaha R6 Stuntable?

I've got the same bike and wheelies are no problem. It just takes practice. Compared to a gsxR an 04R6 is so compact you should be running circles around those big boats The throttle on the 04 is really jerky especially in 1st, so it takes time getting the timing and the clutch right. Start slow and small (around15mph + a little throttle) and then work your way up (22mph and a bit of hard acceleration) It helps to look at the tach but get used to the sound of your engine. Once you get the front in the air work on keeping it there by staying on the gas / don't loop it just keep it steady. It helps to lean back. When you clutch it, make sure you are still accelerating don't stare at the tach and sit at 18 mph and then hit it.(If you do this it will feel like its going to buck you off) Start speeding up and then clutch it when your at a speed your comfortable with. The key to the whole thing is being as fluid as you can.

What do you mean most?? Eric Hoerneshel, my teammate, Jeff Howlet... ****, I can name a bunch, even I got my share of time on both 1st and 2nd gen. R6's. Its a good bike, I think the 1st generation ones are a bit stronger, but either is a pimp bike. And talk about twitchy.. even though the '03/'04 are, they are still a hell of a lot less so than the Gixxer 750/1000. Not to mention everyone and their mother has a Gixxer blown up* somewhere in their stunting history..

I'm -1 and +6 and I don't think it's twitchy at all, U might need to learn better throttel control, or better brake control!! The best solution is just practice, practice, and more practice!! In time you'll get away from that damn twitchyness!!!

Re: Yamaha R6 Stuntable?

You can't stunt an R6. It is only a 600 and will not wheelie. Go for something with more power like a hayabusa or even a zx12.

Re: Yamaha R6 Stuntable?

I'll tell u what my 99 r6 has smoked a 10 year veteran on a 600 gsxr..I'm not talkin down on the suzuki its a sweet bike, but just a little input on my behalf.. Oh and we were doing about 65 when we opened it..Also kept up wit a 750 till I topped out at 169 and he kept going.. I just think its the driver..you might not believe my top speed, with a stock pipe hollowed out and no other modifications..I only weigh a buck forty(140)..
