How long did it take you to....

I was just wondering how long you guys had been riding before you got really good at stunting and starting to pick up tricks really quickly, and how long does it take you to learn a new trick, I know it depends on what the trick is cuz some are a lot harder than others, but just give me an idea. DId a lot of you ride dirt for a long time when you were younger, and just pick up street quick or what's the deal let me know...

Re: How long did it take you to....

everyone learns at a different pace man.. i rode MX since i was 4 years old, so it does help a little with the concept and stuff.. but yea, everyone learns differently, some people it could take a year to learn BP, others could pick it up no problem... its all in how quick of a learner you are, if you got the *****, and your "dedication" to learning... thats my i started pickin up on it pretty quick..

Re: How long did it take you to....

im still learning this so called "stunting"

Been riding bikes for almost 3 months (maybe alittle more now) and im ALMOST doing 1st gear BP wheelies (sometimes i can but i havnt rocked one for a long time yet) and i can skitch, do seat stands, tank stands, surf, ive started sittin on the tank and doing wheelies (spreaders) but since i dont know the BP im not doin a text book spreader. Its just about gettin the ***** to try it and goin from there.

Re: How long did it take you to....

It took me 6 straight months to learn circles...I could circle before I ever scraped tail I did that to trick people into thinking I knew how to ride and they'd never ask me any questions.....after that everything else I've learned has come quick. I suck at endos still, I can't climb through to 50/50 or high chair (but I'm stretching every day) everything needs polishing but the framework is there after a year and a half I think.

Took me around 3 months (some 4-5 hours/week of practice) and two crashes in that period to learn to wheelie in BP. After that it's all just adding things to previous learned skills.

Re: How long did it take you to....

Took me about a month or 2 to get Bp once i got the 2nd gear Bp wheelies down for a few weeks i started spreaders then just kept moving on every few weeks or so trying new stuff. Sometimes it seems like you will never get a trick down then one day it just comes to you and you wonder why you couldnt get it before because it seems so easy once you've done it.

hmm I see....well the reason I ask is because I have a friend that I think is learning really fast, and I am trying to encourage him to go "pro" but he has his doubts, and is thinking about joining the military, and don't get me wrong, I think the Military is a very honorable thing, but he loves riding and I think he could make something of himself with it.

Well, as of yet there arent really any Pro's.. I mean there are highprofile riders etc. But as far as competition goes there isnt a set of rules saying if you accomplish "this" you are now pro. Infact, alot of comps have sandbaggers competing in Amature to win. My advice would be to join the military.

Yeah I understand, but when the sport breaks into mainstream I think it would be beneficial to be on the cusp of that. And all the sport needs to go mainstream is more really good dedicated riders.

Re: How long did it take you to....

holy **** that pic of the guy on a d bike and rollerblades is funny as hell, nice timing with that... i have been stuntin (trying) for maybe like 6 mnths, cuz i keep havin bikes dissapear or sell them, but i don't get to go out and practice much, it's a big jump from my gix1k to my f4i, so it's like learning all over again, but everytime we go out, you feel better n better, just practice i guess, i 12'd for the first tiime like 2 mnths ago(on my zx6r), and then broke my bike, so had to wait a month, and went out yesterday on my f4i and couldn't scrape ****, just takes *****, and i guess i left mine at home
