300 foot run up for stoppie? how far will win?
300 foot run up for stoppie? how far will win?
alright everyone, ive been talkin with my guys here in st. louis, and we see a lot of comps. starting stoppie event with 300 ft run up. heres the million dollar question.... what distance wins with this run up?? here in st. louis wheelie chris is hittin 500 feet give or take with 300 foot run up. i know joe brown hit 5 something in florida at 300 feet run up. so anyway what wins this and how far? has anyone seen farther than 500 something?

I've been thinkin alot about this one too lately, and interested in what some guys are actually rollin with a 300ft approach. My personal best is around 490, so I would like to think that 5-600ft would probably be up there at the top, but I wouldnt be surprised if someones breakin 600 though.
Re: 300 foot run up for stoppie? how far will win?
, you can go alot farther than 600, infact you can even go almost 800ft from a 300ft. approach.
and if you back up 50ft. and get in to third gear, 900ft is even possible, but dont ask me ask nick hill's video camera
or you could watch Fish of extreme riderz new video clip and see for yourself
personal bests from a 300ftapproach/768ft. 350ft. approach/883ft.
i think eventually with the right sprocket combo, from a 300ft. approach 1000ft. is possible

Thanks Ryan, my goal is now set
I agree that the right gearing will step your distance from short approach way the hell up...10up 1dn is what I have right now and it's definately NOT a good gearing for 300ft approach at least with a gsxr 750, it puts me in the lower part of 3rd which is killin me...Where's this vid at Ryan, gotta see it

This has made me wonder for a while....The limited approach of 300ft doesn't level the playing field. You have to have a liter bike with the right gears to play that off to your advantage....the dudes on the 600's don't have a chance. It first made me wonder at Stuntwars when Gorka, with his heavy and underpowered bike (compared to the 929/954), had the same approach as Houston and Brown. It would be hard as ****, but it should be done by speed entering the endo.

not necessarily true...at stuntrageous 1.0 cramer and i were rolling just about even during practice from 200 ft approach....on crappy conditions we were doing 300-350, i'm on a kawi 6 and he is on a gix1k...
there are NO RULES to bike mods, nor will there ever be imo....limited start is by far the best way to hold comps...and i even liked the vertical outlaws (where were you ryan!!) comp with a 100 ft approach and no distance, only timed endo...very fun!

Re: 300 foot run up for stoppie? how far will win?
most ive gone on a perfect surface was about 700 from a 300 foot approach... i have never seen more than mid 500 in a comp.. consistancy pays off. to be safe and not kill yourself from a 300 foot approach you probably wont see more that 5 to 600 foot on a good surface.. oh and not to be a dick but ryan...i would like to see a measured 800 foot from a measured 300 foot approach i just dont think much more is possible.. cause no matter what bike your on you can only go so fast and you can only go so high..
