929 vs 750

Wussup ladies and gents, 1st post:

Tired of old bikes, been there, done that. I'm thinkin Fuel Injected, something lightweight. I've narrowed it down to 1st gen fuel injected gsxr or a cbr 929. I know their both

About the same weight
About the same acceleration although the 929 has more torque and the 750 has it in top speed.

For stunting everyone here seems to rock these bikes as well as the F2s and F3s, 900 and 954. Honda reliability, I know....

But I'm wondering, since I'm into draggin, stuntin, street and twisties, would you guys give the gixxer the nod over the 929? It does come with the dampener OEM too. How much worse do they do in wrecks vs the 929? Anyone who owns/stunts/rides/ridden BOTH would have even more input I assume. Are their certain stunts one is better at than the other? My goal as far as stunting is concerned would be consistent 2nd and 3rd gear Looooooooooooooooooooooooong BP wheelies and some stoppies.

I started years ago on a ninja 250 clutchin 1st, fzr 600 power wheelies in 1st all day, then got a gsxr 7/11, geared it -1 and +3 and had fun w/1st and 2nd gear wheelies, finally got an F2 stock, 1st I powered or clutched, 2nd all clutch and it wasn't all that easy (timing probably a little off since I kept adjusting fork stiffness). I've owned each bike for 6-8 months before switching, FYI.

Sorry so long, 1st post, waddaya expect.

Thanks and peace!

Ali

Re: 929 vs 750

All around, I'd get the gixxer. If you like to drag race and stunt and all it would be your best choice. They both take abuse pretty well, but if you drop the 929 just right without a cage you'll split the motor in half. Only weak link on the 750 is the subframe/mounts. If you are hard on them with a bar you'll break the tabs off.

Re: 929 vs 750

you said first gen FI, so i guess you mean 98-99 old body style 750's that had fuel injection. Those things aren't the same weight as the 929's...they are a lot heavier. The new style (2000 and newer) 750's are compairable though.

out of both, i like teh hondas. The motors are stronger, and nobody can deny that because almost all of my gixxer owning friends have blown 1 and most 2 motors, and the trannies aren't as strong. The 1000's seem to be better on motor strength, but the 750's lock up like crazy.

also, the brakes are 10x better on the hondas. I hate suzuki's brake design. especially the old body style brakes.

and you said draggin knee. pound for pound the 929 will have more torque out of corners than a 750 because of basic engine displacement.

ride both and see which one you like. those are what i've found with both so that's what i ride. both bikes feel completely different when you ride them so it's whatever you are comfortable with.

Re: 929 vs 750

I have a 750 and 929,

929's are okay, just couldn't get comfortable on it,

I like gixxers, by the way I have a 929 1600miles clean title, needs upper and tail plastic, and subframe. 5800 bucks.

Re: 929 vs 750

Actually I didn't know the srads were FI. I meant the 00/01...the ones that look like the Telefonica 600 gix.

Argh...this is really gonna be a tough one to decide.

I will end up sprayin a 30 - 40 shot....honda handles it better due to being larger and a honda?

My heart is w/the gix but my head is w/the cbr.

Also, as far as old school 750 goes, my 1100 was really an 89 750 gixxer w/an 87 1100 motor....TORQUEY!

well, you are talking about 900rr brakes compaired to 929 brakes...that's like night and day. 929 front end is so much nicer than 900's.

hands down the newer 750's have better brakes than 900's.

and ya, i went on both plus and minus with why i like what i like. the motor thing is the main thing for me.....i have too many friends blowing gixxer motors. i can't afford to blow motors. 21k stunted hard miles on my 929 and not a tick so i can't beat that. honda's always have and always will be the strongest and longest running motors. also the newer 750's (and all gixxers at that) carry the weight lower in the chassis which makes me uncomfortable. i like the higher, narrower weight of my hondas.

100mph wheelies are old and played out.....i roll 3rd gear on the highway and stay at 60mph...balanced...none of that 100mph squid ****.

and gearing has nothing to do with it. you have a problem with speed in a gear, just upshift fool.
