Finally "FIRST WHEELIE"

It feels soooooooooooo goood.
Got the wheel off the ground for the first time ever. Startred riding about 5 months ago, got comfortable on the bike then set my sights on stunting. Made escuses for about 2 months, but after getting a new chain I said f*ck it. Today is the day. First gear, 5,6,7,8 thousand rpm's, clutch in, clutch out, front wheel off the ground probably 4 to 5 inches. I have read you are supposed to lean back, but I was doing the opposite because I was scared and didn't know what to expect. <1994 900rr> is the bike +2 in the rear. What advice would you wish someone would have given you when you first started stunting.
Feels so good

Good job on the first wheelie.. the best advice you'll get is practice and then practice some more. Get more comfortable with the front coming up and you'll be riding them out in no time

Re: Finally "FIRST WHEELIE"

good to hear that you took it slow and got use to riding 1st that was the best thing you could have done . just kept working at it at your own speed and learn to cover the back brake right away or you will end up like me and trying to learn it 5 years down the road

Re: Finally "FIRST WHEELIE"

now all you have to do is take it easy, learn to lean back and tap that rear brake. i had a major problem leaning back at first but now it seems so natural. if you can, get a buddy to film you, then you know how far you can go back. once i did that, it all made sense

Nice work! Just keep at it. I'm far from even calling myself an amatuer but I can relate to the happy feeling you've got now that the front came up for ya! Read the sticky at the top and just keep at it. Have fun and be safe!

Re: Finally "FIRST WHEELIE"

I suck at stunting but can pull off the occasional good wheelie. Just practice and cover the rear brake. Good luck man let everyone how it's going

Re: Finally "FIRST WHEELIE"

Great job on your first wheelie. If you haven't already, practice setting the front wheel down smoothly instead of chopping the throttle and crashing down hard. I learned the hard way and now something in my front end is making an annoying popping sound. Also get used to powering it up in first instead of clutching. Since you have a 900 you should have no problems powering it up. Once you get used to powering it up and riding it out, then start clutching. Good luck!

Re: Finally "FIRST WHEELIE"

i remember the old days when i thought that power wheelies was where it was at, but then i learned to clutch them up and my eyes opened to the RIGHT way to wheelie

learn to get the wheel off the ground by powering them but as soon as you are comfy with that and can ride them a little start to clutch them. it is how you are suppose to do it
