friggin cops have nothing better to do.. especially state troopers... went out for a ride tonight, 4 bikes and 2 cages... we hit this stretch of road in my city that is almost like a high way, 3 lanes wide without any cars... so my buddy on the bike next to me drops it down and takes off... i gas it but then realize i was in the wrong gear and i was too lazy to downshift so it was pointless. 1 of the other bikes took off and 1 of the cars took off too.. the were atelast 100-200 yards away from me when i crossed over the bridge. the exit we needed to take was right after the bridge, so i slow down to take it and i look in the rearview and there is 2 state troopers with their lights on RIGHT on my ***... so i pull off to the side thinking they were gonna go past me... nope... they pull right behind me.. so i shut the bike of and take the helmet off, trooper gets out of his car and walks over. i asked why i was being pulled over. "license and registration please". i poped the trunk to get my info again askin for what i have done... he tells me i was speeding & racing the other bikes. i told him i want racing and then asked if he has me on radar. he said he did so i proceeded to ask if i could see it.. he says no. i then told him that it was my right to see if and that he just said no because he didnt have me on radar. he then threatens me saying that if i didnt shut my mouth he was going to arrest me for disorderly conduct. i told him i had done nothing wrong. by now there are 4 trooper cars surrounding my bike on this offramp. one of the other troopers chimed in saying that i was racing and he heard my bike. i said "really ? you heard my bike out of 3 other bikes and 2 muscle cars (and old mach 1 and a 01 GT both with exhaust and engine work). he didnt say anything after that. so after 20 minutes of me waiting for deputy dewey to write my ticket he finally gets out of the car, walks up to me and says "you better give your buddies a call because we just got a call over the radio that someone on a bike wiped out", i ask for more info but he didnt have any. so then he givs me a ticket for 57 in a 35 "radar estimated". so i said i thought he had me a 60 not 57. he says "ya want me to put ya at 60" i said no and then i said that it was just more proof that he was lyin bout the whole thing. none of my friends crashed though which was a good thing... the staties probably went after some poor kid who they thought were my friends... the kid ran, and crashed... who knows.. i just think that it is rediculous the things cops can do..i honestly have no idea how fast i was goin or what the posted speed limit was.. i do not think i was speedin and i was DEFINITELY NOT screwin around... sorry for the long post, im just so pissed right now... thinkin bout sellin the damn bike cuz you cant even own anything fast around here because cops look for stuff to give ya a ticket for... im currently a step 27 but i havent had a ticket in almost 3 years (november will be 3 years). once 3 years has passed it will drop to a 14 because of the clean slate bill... im worried that those 2 3/4 years of paranoia will all be wasted because of some gun-ho cop

 

I say fight it. It's your right to fight the ticket, and you should exercise it. It sounds like the cop was totally bullshitting about everything, and the judge will probably feel the same way.

I know getting a lawyer will definately cost more than the ticket, but in your case, you don't want to screw up your almost 3 years with a clean driving record.

It might cost a couple hundred bucks, but you'll save money in the long run on insurance. It also feels GREAT to be able to prove the cops have no case.

 

You don't even need a lawyer to fight it. Plead not guilty, they'll give you a court date to tell your side of the story. and then the cop has to present his evidence and tell his story. If your lucky, he might not even show. But, we get overtime pay for court hours. so at time and a half, he might be more inclined to make the trip. He shouldn't have ticketed you with a speeding ticket if he didn't have you on radar. You'll be able to win that no problem. If he were to ticket you at all the most he could have given you is a careless. Then again, this is all PA law. So yours might be different. all in all, I say you fight it. thats bullshit man.

 

wow, i like this board much more... i posted this on firblades.org and 99% of them treated me like i was the antichrist. i am going to fight the ticket. what i am curious to know is.. november i drop from a step 27 to a 14 because of 3 years without a ticket.(clean slate bill).. usually when i appeal a ticket it takes a few months to get a court date... say i dount have to goto court till december.. do you think that my points will drop ? thats all i reall care about.. the $220 is an inconveinence to me, thats all.... its the points thats gonna kill me. in Crapachusetts its been my experience that the cops are always right. cant even own anything nice around here without getting harassed. earlier in the night we pulled into a gas station. we saw a cop pull in, stare us down and then disappear.. didnt think anything of it though. as we left th gas station guess who was right behind us... thats right, good old mr cop.. he followed us for about 3 miles, i felt like pulling up next to him and tellin him to stop harassing us....

sorry, i just have a real problem with the way most cops exercise their authroity. i know a lot of cops and all the ones i know are REAL cool. all the ******** i stay away from

 

dude i understand coming from ma too...i totally gave up riding in ma.....i head right to RI now...newport,bristol.....they dont even give u a 2nd look...up in fall river we have a spot to mess around its a service road inbetween 2 factory builings....its maybe 100 yards long and 2 lanes...thats where every1 meets up to hang and practice new tricks.....so were there for a hour or so...then EVERYONE stoped riding and was just sittin around talkin the cops come and say they have reports of drag racing... theres no houses for over a mile...every1 there got nailed with everythin they could tack on....the tickets ranged from $500-$545..the only thing we got caught doing is sitting in a parking lot

cops dont remember how it was when they were younger...i would probably get harrassed less if i was a crackhead than stunting my bike

 

man, thats messed up .... did ya fight the tickets ??! did ya win ? stuff like that is why i get an attitude when i get pulled over 3000 times.. 80% of my tickets are when im not even doing anything.. they never seem to be around when i am screwing around.. maybe i should just do 140mph all the time.. or pull wheelies from wherever i am to wherever im headed. if it wasnt for bad luck i wouldnt have any at all.

in a way i am lucky though because if they ever caught me for all the stupid crap ive done no way in hell would i be allowed to have a license EVER.

 

some of us had em taken care of through hookups...and others just squeeked out other people so they could get their tickets dropped(it will all come back around)

another funny thing is my buddy had his gear taken that night and his helmet came back smellin like every1 in the station pissed in it
maybe it had to do with the FTP sticker on it(the cops tried to peel it off too)

 

cops are dicks... nothing new... we all learn first hand at one time or another
