Ok here is it the same ol' bs that you hear at every competition, I have been to several and there is always a few people who think they could have done it better than you, and that this and that is not fair, ok I'm doing a competition in november and since you all like to talk and always have something to say about everything and the biggest problem is the judging in 3 catagories, here goes....
if you had to create a scoring sheet for am freestyle, pro freestyle & team event what EXACTLY would it look like?

I mean you we try and do events that are measured so there is a definite winner hands down, but you can not do a comp where there nothing but coasters and endos, let me tell how fun that would be for the spectators

If you have any other suggestions please post, remember if we all support each other we can help the sport grow and all eventually profit from it

 

all i have to say is if it is a comp, then i dont think the crowd should have anytning to do with judging....now if you are havin a comp for show purposes i suggest that insted of sayin its a comp....just call up some teams pay them all the same and have a "comp" the spectators will have no idea and then you can get them invovled with the judging..way more excitment..if you do that no one will complain, if you try and have an actual competition believe you me someone will be bitchin......if you decide to do a show the hit me up fool i love ATL

 

Thats just a fact of life. You cant make everyone happy ALL the time. This will never change, so as long as the majority are happy with the outcome you have succeded

 

to make a comp better

1) you need the crowd to be happy...IMO the comp needs to be greared toward the crowd because without them coming you would not make any $$.
a) the comps should start off with Team event.
b) then go into your pro individuals, i.e. freestyle, stoppie, burnout, ect..
c) amatuer events should be last 2 reasons...the fact a lot of people sand bag...and 2) the pros who travel to most of these events have put in their time and should not have to wait all day. besides the fact the crowd ends up leaving before they all get to compete.

2) no one hosting a comp should be allowed to enter the competition or around score cards. rider/team scores should be announced after each session. this is very important......the only type of event i could see a host entering is a one that is not judged but where distance or time shows the winner for everyone i.e. stoppie, fastest wheelie, coaster, feet over bar last man standing. this should not include individual freestyle, burnout, or team.

3) time is critical....but that is just something that takes practice to learn how to cordinate the event and not keep it going until 9pm

4) judges need to know what tricks are what and degree of difficulty. you need solid judges and rules.

i think if you want to do a comp you should contact Dirty B and get the NSRA to be part of the comp even if it is just for the rules and judges. this has been said many times a governing body is needed. he would be more than happy to help.

for the first event overall i thought it was good those are just some things i see, which could improve it.

 

Thanks chris, you know there is a way to say something and get your point across and not be an a$$, I really appericiate the info here, I want the event in Nov to be different than ones in the past, it would be nice to have everyone happy but that is fantasy land, I will fo sho take your advice and commend you on being tasteful, a lot of people don't know how to be. you know what chris I was just thinking about doing the team event 1st last night, what a good way to start off the comp.

 

you know what i never thought of that, the only problem would be that I'd have to make sure the track owner would go for that, but as far as this event I'll probally stay with the original plan, it seems like there has been enough comps that hopefully 1 day 1 of us will get it down to a science, we just need all the riders to bear with us and help us out by giving suggestions , but not being a$$holes and a lot of people can't do that, but maybe your idea will take off 1 day, I like it

 

I was thinking the same thing, but it just sucks cause it is that 2 or 3 people that walk away with bad attitudes and they turn around and b**ch to their friends and the next thing you know it has become a tornado out of control riders hould be focused more on the positives that come out of events instead of worrying so da*n much about all the negative things, if we all try and put positive energy out it will come back to us, but 1st we gotta learn to work togather and lose the I'm better than you attitude.

 

**** the track owner doesnt have to know that, just hire a handful of teams distribute the $6,000 that would have been payouts, equally among the riders, hold the event like a comp with the crowd as a judge and make them feel like they picked the winner nah mean, trust me man i did a show like that up here with some fmx guys and it was off the ****in hook.....after the crowd picked the best fmx guy and best street guy they went trick for trick against each other and the crowd picked sickest ****....its was by far the best crowd response ive ever seen from a show/comp....but thats just my opinoin

 

The judges have be credible.......How can you judge a trick if you don't know what it consist of? Im just saying in general if you can rock at least one circle wheelie you should be able to judge a circle wheelie or anything on that level. Pay some accomplished riders to judge. Make sure they aren't on the same team and have somewhat different stlyes ...give them a scale to judge on......something like Control 1 2 3 4 5.

It was a good event I know it is hard to make everyone happy. i hope i did not come across the wrong way on what we talked about. i was just giving advice, hopefully it was good advice. once again thanx for having us out and thanx for hooking us up! also what made this comp better than most is the host paid everyone!

right, that makes some sense, that other hard part is finding people who will judge, and on top of that I'd have to try and get more money for themm, cause now a days people don't seem to want to help fo free, there is always a price involved, don't get me I understand tha ago old theory TIME=MONEY, but we need to get these comps going good and need more people to get involved and HELP not hinder the growth

 

Nah dude it is all good, that is exactly why I posted this thread it was in general, I probally unlike most people like critism, how do you know your doing something wrong if your not told, aaron & I talked before the show & he gave me some advice as a friend & I really appericiate it, I see things 1 way and some people may not see it that way , that is why this thread is here so hopefully we all can start seeing eye to eye, and help each other out!!!

 

this is fo sho something for me to think about, the bottom line is everyone wants to get paid, so you can do the comp and let everyone show off for money or hire a few teams and **** the other teams off that didn't get invited to come out, what ya think bout that?

 

for some teams to get pissed that they didnt get hired is childish and arent the type of people that you need to be dealin with.....i mean think about it if i got pissed off everytime another team got hired for a show and i didnt, id be one angry short sonna bitch nah mean?! I mean seriously between all the teams across this country im sure someone has a show atleast twice a week......honestly i think events like that...mock comps....will help this sport out alot more, because the crowd will be more involved and leave like god damn that was cool ****...hey bob you need to check this **** out next week these cracklin *** crackers as crazy, dont forget your bud hat.......you feel me

You mock comp idea is dope.....i think it would give the sport a more exciting tone......its like going from college wreslting to the WWF....
It would be even better if the riders talk **** to each other in front of the crowd...
