You must show receipts that you bought it from a bike manufactor, insurance company, etc. If not, good luck or find someone that can stamp that frame for you .

yeah, when you buy replacements from the manufacturer, or other companies online or something they give you a bill of sale, and a reciept. You just need to take the entire bike (after it's finished being built) to the MVA/DMV and give them paperwork for all the parts that you have paperwork for, and they register you for 2004, or whatever year it happens to be. I got a frame from suzuki brand new for $1500 that was blank. I built the bike and registered it with no problem ..... florida though, I don't know about cali. Im sure it's a similar process though. good luck!

if "they" already got it registered previously, then they will have a new vin plate (no stamp) and they will be issued a title ... which they would sign to you if you bought it ..... BUT if the one you get does not have numbers, then you must go through the process yourself ....

in cali, if you have reciepts, take it to chp and they will issue you a vin and rivet it to the frame. Then you can register it as "special construction" title for the current year (2004 now).
