Looped It in a standup! Learn Rear Brake Control!
Looped It in a standup! Learn Rear Brake Control!
Well I did it today.... Looped a Mint *** bike
Doing a stand up in first and It obviously went past BP and I just lost control. The bike scraped and the next thing I knew I was on the ground with the face shield busted off my helmet and my bike tumbling down the road. I just posted yesterday too about BP and all that and everyone was telling me rear brake control but being inexperienced I just couldn't handle it. I'm pretty cool other than a broken thumb and a little rash on the hand but that's because I was all geared up (about the only thing I did right; helmet, jacket and gloves) The bike is screwed I'll try to post some pics in a couple of days but I don't have a digital camera so it will be hard. The right side of the tank is bashed in, bent front and possibly rear rim, subframe no longer exists and my akrapovic exhaust is split in two. Along with that the upper is smashed along with the upper fairing stay. Clip on, etc, etc. The list could go on and on
The bike would start but anyone know why it would not roll or roll for a little bit and the forks slam in?? (this is after the wreck) I'm thinking the forks might be gone?? The moral of the story is to take it slow and definitely learn rear brake control like so many of these dudes tell you to. I was attempting to learn but you gotta get it up to learn the control right?? I guess some of us have to learn the hard way! Well I guess I'll go pout now over my trashed bike and try to figure out what to do from here.

damn, that sux! other than your ego and thumb, glad you're ok
now you've got a crunchy piece to practice with
when you start again, learn doing standups in second, unless you're learning slow shi7.

Dude sorry to hear that. Hope you get back out there soon. Man, I can't even tell you how many times the rear brake has saved my ***. Good thing you weren't going that fast, and good to hear you were wearing your gear.

Re: Looped It in a standup! Learn Rear Brake Control!
this coulda been my post last sunday morning.
i totaled my f4i doin standups too.
didnt have full grasp on brake control, and relied on engine braking to much.... it was a $4700 mistake.
please be careful and listen to the EXPERIENCED people here.
good luck bro, hope your ok and you get a bike again.

Brake control is a must. Better to be safe than sorry. I learned on my 4 wheeler cuz it was hard on the gsxr 1000. After i got the hang of it on the 4 wheeler....it was all downhill from there

Yeah, I did the same thing. The quad helps alot with brake controll, A fiddy is good for learning too.
Re: Looped It in a standup! Learn Rear Brake Control!
Well, I guess this is just another one of those threads that drills using brake control into my head. Sorry we get to learn from your mistake. That really blows. At least now you've got a crunchy one to play with! Hope your thumb gets better quickly!
Drive it on!

Re: Looped It in a standup! Learn Rear Brake Control!
I just looped my bike last week on a 2nd gear sitdown.
I have only been wheelie'n for about a month and 2 weeks of that was 2nd gear ones
Luckily i have just put a FI cage on my bike 2 days b4, and it saved my bike. All i got was road rash and a busted rearset bracket
I just got the bike together lastnite and went ridin. I'm kinda skittich to pull it up, but gimme a few days and i'll be back up
ANyways u guys keep sayin about brake control, whats the best way to learn it? If u can't afford to buy a quad right now. Cuz i wanna keep progressing, but wreckin suxx and i don't wanna take a really bad dive and not be able to ride

Re: Looped It in a standup! Learn Rear Brake Control!
glad your alright, all the expensive after market parts, i learned the hard way to, my zx6r was done up, had everything, i even polished everything possible on that bike, well i started really stunting and destroyed that bike in 9 months, now i have a 900rr, bone stock except for the rear sprocket, it still hurts the pocket book when she goes down hard, but stock parts hold up better and are cheaper to replace(usually e-bay).
Re: Looped It in a standup! Learn Rear Brake Control!
I can already tell that brake control is gonna bust me in my ***. I don't even think about it, i always rely completely on the engine braking and body position. Guess i better learn my lesson before i follow the same path.

If you are interested in the bike then go to the classifieds and look under 02 GSXR 750....https://www.stuntlife.com/forums/44-bikes-sale/86476-02-gsxr-pics-make.html
