Re: **setting the idle to 4000 rpm on a stock f4 for 12s normal?**
Sometimes when I set my idle for a slow trick I blip it once or twice to let it really get to where the idle is set to. That sounds stupid, but ill explain.
For some reason, my F4, buddies R6, buddies YZF all take a second or two to fit in to where you just adjusted the idle too. Its like it has this delay, if you blip your throttle it will settle in to where you want it and if not you can adjust it. I dont run a tachometer anymore but I know where its at when I adjust it. It can be up to 500 RPMS off if you dont let the engine settle in before riding off. Rocking out stock, try 3800.. once you get it down, move it to like 3200 or less.
Hope that explanation made sense.. cause just trying to put it into words gave me a headache!

Re: **setting the idle to 4000 rpm on a stock f4 for 12s normal?**
4000 is way too high
Re: **setting the idle to 4000 rpm on a stock f4 for 12s normal?**
With stock gearing it should be LOWER. 4000rpm on stock gearing is pulling the bike harder then 4000 on a very geared bike
Re: **setting the idle to 4000 rpm on a stock f4 for 12s normal?**
The way I feel about it is this.. a 400 lbs 600/750 wont chug along like a geared out bike, so higher idle will keep speeds up, also, slowing down a stock bike (which wont pop up as fast) is harder. There is more room for error with a high idle.
And YES, if you are a billy badass on one wheel you dont need a high idle, but it helps for learning. I use high idle when rocking a stock bike someone hands over to me for the first time. Then if I get comfy and if they havent freaked and taken it back yet, I lower it.

But I was under the impression that a geared bike pulls harder.
Re: **setting the idle to 4000 rpm on a stock f4 for 12s normal?**
ride on 2 wheels on a bone stock bike and set the idle to 3000. It'll go faster than the same bike with a 10up sprocket on the rear at the same rpm.
And I'm the exact opposite. On others peoples bikes (especially when riding a mint bike) I never touch peoples idles. Although, I hardly use the idle even on my own bike unless I'm doing no handers

Re: **setting the idle to 4000 rpm on a stock f4 for 12s normal?**
On my 900 I'm -2 + 12 and that bitch pulls hard at 2500 gotta ride the **** out of that brake or it will keep coming back. Stock gears on my buddies F4i pulled at like 1700rps at about 7 to 10 mph. dont know if that helps just my experence
Re: **setting the idle to 4000 rpm on a stock f4 for 12s normal?**
I just started and I found that setting the idle higher helped get me use to using the rear brake to slow it down and then lower the idle as I get use to it.
Re: **setting the idle to 4000 rpm on a stock f4 for 12s normal?**
When I had +5 I rocked the idle at 1900. Now that I have +12 I rock it at 2200. Nags your on the money with that explanation.

Re: **setting the idle to 4000 rpm on a stock f4 for 12s normal?**
i roll at 34-3600 on stock929 gears i think it just goes by how you ride your the only one who knows how it feels up there take everyones advise and then find what works ....like people no 2 bikes are exactly the same
Re: **setting the idle to 4000 rpm on a stock f4 for 12s normal?**
I spent quite a bit of time on a stock 929 this past weekend.. had the idle at 2200 for no handers and it was perfect
