RIP Ronnie Smith

I was saddened and shocked to learn that Ronnie Smith from PERFORMANCE BIKES in England was killed over the weekend.

To many of us he was an early influence in our riding. PB videos were around before the Starboys and they have been stunting in their magazine since day one. You can find pics of this guy hoisting wheelies on a gold wing and 12ing fazers.

He was a true OG and Wheelie Pimp and I will miss his work greatly.

RIP Ronnie.

I've been reading Performance Bikes for years. No U.S. mag that I know of comes close when it comes to stuff us stunners are into, (putting Big Dave Sonsky doing a flamingo on the cover for instance). I always looked forward to seeing what silly **** Ronnie Smith was gonna do in each new issue. He seemed to live to entertain and make us laugh and also to race. My favorite Performance Bikes cover shot was of Ronnie busting the tail light on a brand new Fazer 600 while doing a 12. Going by his cartoon-looking leathers and helmet he must have been a real character. He'll truly be missed. R.I.P. Simon "Ronnie" Smith.

That shot of him smashing a the tail light was the best. The glass was still flying through the air.

I have to agree...I have many of their videos, and by todays standards, maybe their style is not cool anymore, but back then, it was INSANE and unbelieveable! These guys represent the ALL AROUND GREAT RIDER, and to me that is what it is all about...not just stunting, not just racing, and not just sportbikes...they can ride anything on two wheels well...total control of all aspects of riding a motorcycle! VERY COOL!

He was funny to watch, and no doubt he will be missed!

R.I.P.
