Is a crash cage effective?

I am considering turning my 2003 gsxr1000 into a stunt bike, but I was wondering how effective a 12 oclock bar, crash cage, and extended frame sliders would be as far as damaging a lot of the internal components of the machine. i.e. banging the bike on the ground numerous times, anyones input would be grately appreciated.

Well, Your definately gonna need a cage, it will help alot on keepin your engine running after a crash, But it wont protect all your plastics, rims, or clip-ons, if i was you i would take all your plastics off untill you learned how to 12. On the slider issue you wont need them if you buy a cage. A 12 bar is ok, but if you set it down like sideways on the pavement, you'll get thrown off quick, so be cautious.

? wtf are you talking about...

Dude your bike is gonna get FUKED stunting it.. without a cage you can break the magneto.. not just the case, but the actual internal coil. That Tenny guy on SL said he had to go through hell cause it bashed in once. I bounced my ride wheels up today from 12ve and my cage took it like a champ.

Re: Is a crash cage effective?

They look pretty when they dont have scratches on them(lol)..

Im trying to get one for my ride, think this is one of the best things invented for stunt riding.... Deciding on what company 905 or PW, and what size sprocket +8+9 or +10...

Get one man, well worth the money

I wanna say that guy was joking. *points and laughs*

Back on topic.... Do whatcha gotta do. I will only say this. One of the more popular cages will trash your gixxer. Stay away from ANYTHING that attaches to your subframe tabs unless you want them broken.

Re: Is a crash cage effective?

905 cages are sweet on gixxers too.

My advice to you would be to keep your nice 03 1000 a streeter and spend a little loot to get a salvage 600/750 for starters. You'll thank yourself later when you see, even with a cage, how effed it gets!!!
