Question Crash cage clearance..?

I spend as much time on one wheel as I do scraping feelers on highway exit/entrance ramps. I am considering buying a cage, but realized that would most probably scrape at any repectable lean?

Anyone here w/a cage push their bike in the twisties? If so, what type of clearance do you realize at lean, and what type of cage is it.

On my ZX6RR it looks like the Powers follows the contour of the fairing closest of all the cages out there, but I'm still very curious as to how much clearance is lost at lean.

Thank you all in advance, as your help would be appreciated.

i ride the street allot and do not have cornering issues with those cages but if your scraping pegs then you might have an issue with those cages. perhaps an option for you would be FI because you can remove the loop and just use the sliders...

Thumbs up Re: Crash cage clearance..?

I haven't touched down on my stock tired ZX6RR yet, but did regularly on my F4 & 750 SRAD. There is this 120mph sweeping left that I frequent, and another I push 90-95 through that have distinct troughs in them. The idea of the cage scraping on one of those compressions terrifies me. Thank you again for the response though, and I hope we can get some more input on this one.

The SL store does not list a FI cage for my ZX-6RR so I assume FI have not designed one yet?

www.mxdcages.com
i make track cages that you can drag knee with while still having great protection for wheelies. if you hit a curb though you will *** your fairings up probly. bike will start though. i will have pics of an r6 that hit a curb with a track cage up this weekend, so check it on monday.

905 wont scrape unless your at motogp speeds(foot pegs folding in the leans). I'll go through a crazy *** canyon averaging like 100mph and not scrape.

Re: Crash cage clearance..?

i got a 905 on my f4i and it touches down pretty easily. (before the foot pegs do, and honda foot pegs are pretty low.) i think twistys with cages are a bad idea

Re: Crash cage clearance..?

i have come real close to scrapin the pegs on my 900rr and the 905 cage has plenty of clearence. if you get a FI YOU WILL HAVE TO take the loop off or you WILL smack it into the ground.

I was really hoping you were going to say that, but then MAKO & SCUBBY make me wonder that if there is that much difference in clearance between the 900RR & F4i & SRADs; then what type of clearance would my ZX6-RR realize?

Re: Crash cage clearance..?

Best thing to do is to build your own or find someone that has the equipment to make one to your own specs.

Exclamation Re: Crash cage clearance..?

I appreciate everyone's response GREATLY, but you sir... tdatreefrog have the same bike. Do you have a POWERS on it, and do you push it in the twisties? If so, have you ever scraped it? And if that, what scenario caused the scrape?
