1000RR vs. 954RR

I have a 954 and a 1000rr. I beat the **** outta the 954 and it's the greatest bike ive ever stunted. The 1000 has less than 50 miles on it, not broken in by any means. Im gonna get rid of one very soon, and keep the other for a stunt bike. Costs of plastics/parts when wrecking isn't something I care about. I just want some real opinions of people that stunt their 1000's hard.

Looking for experienced riders opinions on wheelies, highchairs, bp, stoppies, circles, and whatever else your pullin. How does it stack against the 954?

I'm about to say **** it and go take it out to the spot, but if I can get halfway intelligent feedback here I won't have to.

thanks in advance..

Re: 1000RR vs. 954RR

I don't have one, but a buddy of mine that went from a 954 to a 1000RR said he liked his 954 better for stunting. Says the 1000RR is too ballsy, needed a little too much of his attention on the throttle. Don't know though, that's just one opinion.

ya, and he didn't sound too happy that he was going to be on one.

stay with the 954, parts are going to be cheaper and it's better. I wouldn't trust that crap *** electronic stabilizer, the front end is way way flimsy on a 1000rr, the tank is plastic (tank cover) so you can't dent it, it has a hydraulic clutch and those suck for feel, and i'm sure with it having a lighter front end it would probably tank slap easier....cause it's made for racing. def not a stunt bike.

Re: 1000RR vs. 954RR

I loooooove my 954 I have already ridden a 1000 and I seriously doubt that it is gonna be a good stunt bike, I don't like the new brakes I don't like the unit pro-link suspension (heard it keeps the front down) The position is much more aggressive (good for the track bad for stunts) However, I love the cassette style transmission, so when you burn through a gear you don't have to pull the motor to get to the trans, thats awesome. I was really hoping that the 2 stage throttle bodies would feel nicer than they did. Plus my biggest rule never buy the first generation of anything. Tadao Baba didn't design the 1000rr so it is a completely new line of bike, The 954 comes from the 929 and the 929 came from the 900 so there is a ton of evolution in the 954.
I am staying with the 954!

954's are also made to try and keep the front end down, all sport bikes are...

and what stunts better a 954 or a 1000???????

remember in school when your teacher would say, there is no such thing as a dumb question...they lied

the bike has been out for a month, who is gonna be stuntin one already...

Well thats a real dick thing to say. I think Its a pretty valid thing to ask. You think when the 954 or 929 came out, no one stunted it? You think in 03 when the new style Gixxer 1k's came out no one stunted them? Hell no. last year @ a star boys show - there was a brand new gixxer 1k w/ a bar & zip ties holding that bitch together & a kid killin' it. ANd the 636 - look @ CBO & Teach. They are KILLIN **** on them - ON A BRAND NEW BIKE.

Go back to doing power wheelies on your 1200 ****.

Re: 1000RR vs. 954RR

yea it was a dick thing to say, but the question was stupid...

mabey in a few months you can ask again, but for real, the bike came out last month, there's likely only a handfull of peeps in the country who have broken it in yet, much less stunted it.

and i will keep doing power wheelies on my new 10R, thank you very much

Re: 1000RR vs. 954RR

There was some good feedback in the pictures catagory under the crashed 1000rr thread.

My last and biggest question is about throttle response. When your up balancing it out does it feel twitchy like the 02-03 r1 or smooth like the 954?

more roade racers have this thing right now, check with them or a road race board, ask about off/on throttle response. road racers will complain if when you get back in the gas mid corner, the bike has an abrupt power delivery, it should be nice and smooth. my 12 had a nasty power surge when you got back on the gas. but the 10 comes back on line nice and easy...

this works the same with balancing the bike in a wheelie, if the bike does not come back to life nice and smooth after the throttle being closed, or partially closed it will suck for wheelies.

Simple
1000RR = Race
954RR = Stunt
Its as easy as that!

I dont know why nobody else said this.

Stunt the 954, and then stunt the 1000.

Re: 1000RR vs. 954RR

I have a 1000rr its a great bike for stunnen I now have about 1600K's on it as for racen I was in Calder park AUS with Darius and around every corner on the track i could place the back wheel wherever I wanted it, on the slow wheelies the throttle was a bit twichie but I think if I tighten the throttle cables a little it will make the throttle a little stiffer and give more controll without making it stick ( yet to be tested ) .I dont give a **** what anyone thinks I gunna get the **** happenen on the 1000rr

hate to burst your bubble but tightening the throttle cables won't help any. if it does anything it would make it more twitchier but it won't. I have play in mine because you are suppose to per factory recommendation.
