film editing software
GYNXxx
Arre you referring to my statement about the pc being at least 350mhz? I meant a PC that fast to view videos...LOL. I started with video editing about 2 1/2 years ago with analog connection and a P3 500 ...I was encoding all videos into MPEG...lmao.
Yes it captures hella better and easier.. Here is a comparsion shown.... Comparsion of programs
Yes, Use the vegas to render it. grab any .avi and throw it into the vegas track and encode it as 1 or 3mbps. I use the 1mbps on all my videos. However, Adobe has a setting at I think 1.5mbps thats pretty cool too. Any bigger like 3mbps the file gets real real BIG!!!...lol
You're going to need a little more computer than that.. It has to be fast as hell to make / render your projects seemlessly
But I think it captures video a little better than adobe( do you think so BAKER?
hey BAKER do you know where i can find a better encoder? I am one of those guys you hate that encodes at 512 hahaa
Baker.... I used that vegas video for the first time ..rendering one of my vids I already made ....But it keep flashing the "sonic foundry symbol" everytime there was a break in the video ...so it happens like every other second.... Is that because I am using the DEMO version? Or do you know what the problem is? hahah send me a serial number so i dont have to use this demo version ....later man
yep thats the demo for ya....lol
go to the help tab and choose quick register by phone...it will provide you a comupter ID number. send that number to me and I will give you a key or serial to the program to unlock it.

Lets say your PC only takes PC100 RAM and you throw PC133 on it of 128 meg stick...it will regeister itself as 96 megs because your motherboard doesn't support PC133 ram...LOL
So In short its important to find out what your motherboard takes of what types of RAM and what type of RAM did you install? ie pc 100, pc 133, pc 2100...??
I hate typing if you need any futher help call my cell or pager..I WILL PM YOU THIS INFO.
Thats correct. Register as demo then goto help within the program and select Thanks for your help Big Balla.
Let us know Rob how things go for ya. We can help over the phone if needed.

been outta editin for a while but thanks to hookin up with u sometime next year ill be back in the game (cant wait to see when i getr my new setup what i can do with that!!!!! **** i made my first vid with 2 vcrs and a cd player and it actually came out good enough that people wanted to buy copies!) anyway i remmember sumptin about after affects explain though im a little rusty (sorry i know u hate typin and i was gonna call u about this but i figured it would be valuable in fo for all.
on another note (just my opinion with somethin in my experiences) i found duet to the limitless possibilities of non-linear editing these days everybodies best bet is to shoot all footage in the stardard camera format, ie// dont use any of those special effects on ur cameras!!! if u shoot it as standard raw footage u can then change that raw footage into anything ur camera coulda shot with things like filters in the editing room, then u also have that standard footage there to file as u will (when u shoot something in blackand white on the camera, for example, and then try to use a filter or change it to color u wont, as far as ive found, get the effects u expect and/or want, whereas if u start with regular footage u can go anywhere with it not sure if i stated that clearly let me know if it came out soundin like kenny from south park.................................
lata, lama, lobster, leavin.
I mentioned Adobe After Effects becuase it would give more of a creative side to video editing. Look into this program....I have never used it, but I have seen some of its creative stuff and I like it! I just haven't had the time to mess with it....Once I learn it one day I would sure use it within some videos.
HINT: Servin It Up had some after effects in it with lettering...intro. Basic but it was awsome to see in a video.

Oh yeah, if you'd get an error using vegas video while trying to render as wmv (error saying : "message missing") just download this patch http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...S/wmfdist2.exe

if you have a pc AVID DV would be about the best software available for the price. for those of you lucky enough to have MACS Final Cut Pro is the best choice. Both are rip offs of Avid Media Composer (which is the standard for pro video production) at about a hundreth of the price. Media Cleaner can convert media files(video) to just about any format. After Effects is a mother f'er to learn but certainly worth the time spent (I've been using AE for about 6 years and I still have not mastered it, 3d camera have fun losing your mind on that effect)and its more of a finishing program. You should assemble your video on an edit program Premiere, Avid, FCP then imort it to AE for any special effects you might like to add.
Any Sony TRV or ****** ZR dv cams are compatible with the above edit programs via firewire. You can get one of these cameras for around $500 and believe it or not they are good enough for broadcast.
Also another idea is to save your money on this software and hardware which by the time you install it in your cpu will be updated or outdated. With the advent of all this new tech and super lows prices of this tech it has put a lot of editors out of work and a lot of edit facilities on the verge of going out of business.
You could find a local edit house ask to see a reel of their work if it's appealling to you see if they would be willing to cut you a deal on your production. For the price of a camera and edit program you could probably get about 10 minutes of video finished.
This could save you the time in learning all this software and get something editted by someone who knows the software and they might even give you some ideas that you would have never thought of.
Plus being a producer is a lot more glamerous than sitting in a dark room for hours and hours drinking coffee and eating cheeseburgers and cursing at a computer monitor
good luck
