Extended Wheelies??
Extended Wheelies??
Hey Guys, I Have A Question.....i Have A 2000 R1 And Am Able To Hold Wheelies Through 1rst, But Am Concerned About Shifting Through 2nd And 3rd....a Buddy At Work Had A Gsk 750 And Was Wheelieing In 3rd And Seized His Motor (cuz All The Oil Is Just Sitting At The Bottom Of The Pan) So I'm Worried To Do Too Long Of A Wheelie--what Does Everyone Do To Avoid This, If There Is Any Fix?
Re: Extended Wheelies??
there's a couple of fixes. 1st off I'd say if you're concerned about your bike locking up at 120mph on 1 wheel you should try to wheelie at 2mph w/ no hands. ya don't die so much going slower
that or if you're like me and don't like to have to come back from where you wheelied to, ya just wheelie in a small circle as much as you can
that's all in good fun, but honestly you shouldn't even worry about anything 3rd gear related until you can balance your wheelie out and not need to shift. hell on you're R1 w/ stock gears your 1st gear has a higher top than my 6th probably
there's not much of any need to wheelie faster than 80 so focus on locking your speed in at a lower RPM and you won't have to worry so much about the lack of oil to mousetrap death scenario

Re: Extended Wheelies??
From what I heard it is mainly the GSXR's that have this oil proplem because the pickup is (or maybe was) in the front. I haven't heard of any other bike with this problem, but have no other experience other that what I have heard.
Re: Extended Wheelies??
