Question Anyone Own a YZF600R??

ok guys, help me out here, i have had my YZF600R for a year and a half.. and i've wrecked so many times that i'm going to put a cage and scrap bar on it.. its go no plastics on it except tail.. i've given up on trying to make it look pretty, I just wrecked again 4 days ago... but i just recently met a stunting group "team outermost" and i'm going to start practicing with them.. but my question is.. my 600r is soo freakin heavy.. the frame itself is.. i think its got enough torque if I gear it.. which i'm thinking of doing anyways.. I can get it up by clutching it.. but.. lol I have to be in 1st going about 5k rpms.. pull in the clutch, and slam it up to 13k rpm's an pop it.. lol so.. anyways.. is it really worth making it a stunt bike? i actually dont have a choice really, unless I save up to buy all new plastics again.. but I was just curious if anyone on here own a 600r, and has stunted it out? or of any suggestions..

Re: Anyone Own a YZF600R??

you shouldnt really need to gear it... and you shouldnt really need to redline in first to get it up... i ride a 97 f3 (stock gearing) which probably has the same if not less power than your yzf, and it clutches up in first and second no problem. just practice......

Re: Anyone Own a YZF600R??

if you gear it it'll do what you want, iv got a buddy who had a 92 honda vfr stock gearing that could roll slow *** wheelies and drag tail and what not, people flipped everytime they saw him. not the same bike but that thing was a boat with 65K miles and had no power at all. your bike should be capable of doing a lot how it is, gear it and your in business

Re: Anyone Own a YZF600R??

alright well you guys gave me hope..
but as for the redlining.. yeah if I dont want to use a lot of muscle and body weight shifting.. to jerk the damn thing up..
E-dub from Outermost.. says he's very impressed that i can even get it up.. and he has an old F2.. i'm sure when i gear it, it'll do what i want..
another thing i'm worried about is i'm pretty short.. when i do stand ups.. I can barely see over the top.. hahaha.. i'm just afraid that if I scrap tail.. and have to jump off to balance it.. i'm not going to be able to reach the handle bars and will have to let go.. I've looped my bike before.. but that was in a sitdown at 60mph.. so
i guess i'll find out eh?

Re: Anyone Own a YZF600R??

I have a 98 yzf600r, not made into a stunt bike but what gear are you doing your wheelies in? First gear i can chop the throttle and it will come up but You cant ride it out very long because im in redline. Second gear i have to be doing about 45 to 50 then use the clutch. It is a heavy bike and i cant wheelie it easy at all.

Re: Anyone Own a YZF600R??

It'll be fine if you gear it ... and by the way the honda f2s and f3s are way easier to wheelie than the yzf600s ... but anywho, just gear that sucker and it'll be
