Slow stuff, Bike Temp.???

Just wondering how hot your guys' bikes are when your doing slow stuff. Within 10 minutes, my bike is allready at 220. Is there a way to help it cool better? ~nick

hardwire the fan to stay on all the time and your bike will run 20 degrees cooler

I haven't done it yet but I just bought another fan i'm gonna try to mount them both on there and run one off a switch so it will run all the time when i'm practicing and I can turn it off when I'm just riden. I've heard of people doing it just gotta find time to do it.

I have a switch on my radiator fan, one time I forgot to turn it on, rode it for 15 minutes in a small parkin lot doin tricks.

Temp got up to 280 degrees, but I think my thermostat stuck because it didn't blow coolant out of the overflow.
just a good thing I looked down @ the gauges.

Re: Slow stuff, Bike Temp.???

easier just to wire the fan to a switch or just keep it on...no need for a second fan.

Re: Slow stuff, Bike Temp.???

220 isn't bad.

mine usually is 109 celcius, so like what, 225-230 ish. that's a fine temp for it.

if you wire up a switch to keep the fan on all the time, wire the switch into the positive side of the thermo switch, so when you have it turned off, your normal thermo switch will still kick on the fan like a regular bike....that way you don't jack it up.

i'm wiring mine up this way so i can choose. although i don't really worry about it, sitting at 220 isn't going to hurt the bike.

Re: Slow stuff, Bike Temp.???

Well, I usually stop when it hits 220, its been up to like 250 before. The fan automatically comes on at like 210, but the temp still climbs.....

if it keeps climbing past 230 then you have a problem. i would flush your radiator with some super clean and see if that helps and run water wetter. 250 is bad, but 225-230 is ok. i never stop and mine stays right around 225. every now and then i'll take it out on a run real quick to cool the frame down cause the frame starts to get hot and then it burns my legs, but the bike isn't going to die.

also, wiring a hard switch wo'nt help you if you say the bike temp keeps climbinb with the fan on....it should drop when teh fan kicks on.
