Sea level vs. High Altitude

Is there really that much difference? I live in Colorado now and have never rode anywhere else. Im pretty close to denver which is a mile above sea level. Other people ive talked to here have said how much more sh't they can do at lower elevation. This one guy said that a 600 here is like a 1000 on the coast. BS or true?

true for the most part. the air up in higher elevations is thinner, so the bike isnt getting as much as it needs to run right. you'd notice a difference down at sea level.

Re: Sea level vs. High Altitude

I used to live in cheyenne and used to ride with all the boys in the fort. My 929 back home is like a 600 or 750 down here in phoenix. I can throttle up fifth no problem down here i really dont think i can do it back home. I am going back in july i'll let you know what goes on. Being in a warmer climate has steped up game alot. Watch when i come back.

your profile says you can do 12'ves and combos here in denver so i dont think you really have anything to worry about!!

Re: Sea level vs. High Altitude

I know a good bit about this because of my drag racing backround. From best to worst case you will lose about a half second to .7 of a second in the quater mile which is prob about 40hp in a car and around 15hp to 20hp on a bike. So I woundnt say that the diff is from a 600 to a 1000cc bike but in the worst case to best case maybe a 600 to a 750
