ok i am thinking about shortening my exaust but i dont want to if it is going to make the bike a bit louder? i am trying to keep the bike quiet so i dont attract negitive attention! i ride a 94 900rr it has a d&d slip on what are your thoughts!

 

put stock on and cut that it will be a lot quieter d&d is the loudest you can go

 

that is the weard thing it has a d&d pipe now and it is quiet! i just dont want to shorten it and have it get noisy!

i am not shitting ya the pipe isnt even half as loud as my buddies micron pipe! it has to be the quietest d&d pipe i have ever herd it kinda sounds like a yosh. my roomate says it sounds like it goes "run ***** ***** *****" when i start it but i dont hear all that! he only says that when i ask him if he wants to take it for a ride (he's black i am not being discrimanatory!)

I hate D&D but on the 900RR for some reason they sound pretty good and quite a buddy of mine had one and I liked it. Another guy I ride with has D&D on a ZX6 and dam that thing is loud. As for cutting your pipe I cut mine on my 900 after i drug it off and it's a Two Brothers is sounded good did't want to cut it cause I thought it would make it loud. I cut and it did't change a thing still sounds bad ***. So saw that bitch in half took 6in off mine make sure U leave the packing in there. We cut my boyz Jardine on a 2000ZX6 and it was loud as hell. I just dont think your 900 will change cut it. peace :YEAH

 

here is a pic of my pipe i shortened for my f4i. i'm sure the d&d is riveted which makes it 100x easier. and yes since i took the baffles out it was much louder. but on a d&d i can't imagine it becoming much louder. i'd try and find a stock can and use that. look around you can get them for like $10

i just shortened the d & d on my 03 R1. it was loud when it was regular length but not that i shortened it its hella loud!! i like it.. i also shortened my stock pipe. real easy to do. but with the stock one i bored holes in the baffle as well.. now my buddy has a 01 gsxr 750 what he did was bored a bunch of holes in his stock pipe and that thing sounds mean as hell.. i love the way his sounds. but my d and d is much much louder.

 

How are you guys shortening them? Should I just grab the sawzall or hacksaw and cut it in half, and then put the rear peice back on the to new cut end? Is it easy to seal it back on correctly? I have my stock one to do it to. My D&D is phuckin LOUD, it screams like no other, I can make people deaf with it! anyway thanks in advance bro's, ~nick

 

If it's straight through and rivited at the end, YES. if it's stock or similar you have to be more creative because of the baffles, but still YES. if your unsure the best thing is to find a stock pipe or slip on CHEAP, so if you screw up your at hardly any loss.....TED
